Brown Shoe Co. said Monday that president and CEO Diane Sullivan has been named chairman of the board, effective Feb. 2, 2014.

St. Louis -- Brown Shoe Co. said Monday that president and CEO Diane Sullivan has been named chairman of the board, effective Feb. 2, 2014.

Current chairman Ron Fromm will step down but remain a member of Brown’s board.

Sullivan joined Brown Shoe in 2004 as president.

Supervalu has elected Rite Aid chairman, president and CEO John Standley and Cerberus COO and general counsel Mark A. Neporent to its board of directors.


Minneapolis — Supervalu has elected Rite Aid chairman, president and CEO John Standley and Cerberus COO and general counsel Mark A. Neporent to its board of directors.


Standley has spent the past 20 years in executive leadership roles in the grocery and pharmacy retail business. He became Rite Aid Corporation’s president and COO in September 2008, was appointed to the Rite Aid board of directors in 2009 and was named CEO in June 2010. He was elected chairman of Rite Aid’s board of directors in June 2012.

C-store chain Sheetz announced that Joe Sheetz will assume the role of president and CEO, and current president and CEO Stan Sheetz will become chairman of the board, effective October 2013.

Altoona, Pa. -- C-store chain Sheetz announced Friday that Joe Sheetz will assume the role of president and CEO, and current president and CEO Stan Sheetz will become chairman of the board, effective October 2013.

Joe Sheetz is currently executive VP finance and store development.

Steve Sheetz, will leave his chairman seat to fill a newly created position of Family Council Chairman, allowing him to represent the Sheetz family shareholders in company-related issues, while remaining as chairman of CLI Transport, Sheetz dedicated fuel carrier.

Aeropostale said Friday it has appointed seven-year board member Karin Hirtler-Garvey as chairman of the board, replacing Julian R. Geiger who has stepped down as chairman and resigned from the board.

In November, Gieger left his chairman/CEO post with Aeropostale to join Crumbs Bake Shop as president and CEO.

Hirtler-Garvey is a CPA, and most recently was the chief risk executive for Ally Financial Inc.  Prior to that, she held various senior level management positions at Bank of America.

From 2002 through 2006, Stahl served as president and CEO of Revlon. Prior to joining Revlon, he spent over 20 years with The Coca-Cola Co.

Hardwood flooring retailer Lumber Liquidators said Wednesday that Richard D. Tadler will be stepping down from the board of directors, effective June 30.

Toano, Va. -- Hardwood flooring retailer Lumber Liquidators said Wednesday that Richard D. Tadler will be stepping down from the board of directors, effective June 30.

Tadler joined the board in 2004 when TA Associates, the private equity firm of which he is a managing director, originally invested in the company.

TA Associates divested its interest in Lumber Liquidators in 2009, leading to Tadler’s decision to step down.

The announcement ends a lengthy search that began last fall when former chairman and CEO Steve Odland left the company on Nov. 1, amid deteriorating business results and Austrian was tapped to serve in an interim capacity. He had previously served in an interim role prior the company’s appointment of Odland.

The Home Depot board member David H. Batchelder has decided against standing for re-election.

Atlanta -- The Home Depot board member David H. Batchelder has decided against standing for re-election. The company said Thursday that it is nominating Staples chairman and CEO Ronald L. Sargent and former accounting and consulting company executive J. Frank Brown for seats.

Batchelder, 61, has been a Home Depot board member since 2007. He is the founder and principal of Relational Investors LLC.

Sargent, 55, has served as Staples' CEO since 2002 and as chairman since 2005.

Hot Topic announced Monday that CEO Betsy McLaughlin has resigned the company, effectively immediately, and will be replaced by current board member Lisa Harper.

City of Industry, Calif. -- Hot Topic announced Monday that CEO Betsy McLaughlin has resigned the company, effectively immediately, and will be replaced by current board member Lisa Harper.

The move came two weeks after the company announced a fourth-quarter net loss, reversing a profit from a year ago, as revenue slipped by 1%.

According to the retailer, McLaughlin will continue to assist in the transition over the next three months.
