Shoe Carnival said Thursday it has named Kent Zimmerman as VP e-commerce, effective June 3.

Evansville, Ind. -- Shoe Carnival said Thursday it has named Kent Zimmerman as VP e-commerce, effective June 3.

Zimmerman, who comes to the footwear retailer from global systems integration and solutions provider Optaros, is charged with overseeing Shoe Carvinal’s e-commerce and omni-channel strategies.

“We believe Shoe Carnival has a tremendous opportunity to grow our e-commerce and overall omni-channel presence in the family footwear industry,” said Cliff Sifford, president and CEO. “

No Rest for Bridget, based in Irvine, Calif., will make its East Coast debut in mid-March, opening a 1,300-sq.-ft. location on Boston’s Newbury Street.

Boston -- No Rest for Bridget, based in Irvine, Calif., will make its East Coast debut in mid-March, opening a 1,300-sq.-ft. location on Boston’s Newbury Street.

The fast-fashion retailer specializes in affordable women’s clothing and accessories to 20- to 39-year-olds.

The store’s build-out is being handled by A&O Danner Companies, Plymouth, Mass., which is working with D2 Construction of Costa Mesa, Calif.

Boot and leather goods manufacturer Frye Co. will open its second U.S. retail location – on Newbury St. in a historic building in Boston’s Back Bay.

Boston -- Boot and leather goods manufacturer Frye Co. will open its second U.S. retail location – on Newbury St. in a historic building in Boston’s Back Bay. It joins Frye’s only retail store in the Soho area of New York City.

The 11,000-sq.-ft., three-level flagship store is slated to open spring 2013. It will reflect a fresh vision of Frye’s heritage and commitment to craft, and house specially designed areas showcasing the brand’s product.

Harbor Freight Tools recently signed a lease for 20,000 sq. ft. of space at Bricktown Square in Chicago, according to Mid-America Asset Management, which represents the center.

Chicago -- Harbor Freight Tools recently signed a lease for 20,000 sq. ft. of space at Bricktown Square in Chicago, according to Mid-America Asset Management, which represents the center.

The tool retailer held the grand opening of its first urban Chicago store on June 13.

The 277,489-sq.-ft Bricktown Square is anchored by Babies ‘R’ Us, Sports Authority and XSport Fitness, with area tenants including Target, Loews, Jewel/Osco and Office Depot.

Global design consultancy Fitch today announced the opening of its first office in China.

New York City -- Global design consultancy Fitch today announced the opening of its first office in China. The new office will service Fitch’s existing clients such as Nokia and Dell, as well as new clients in the buoyant Chinese market.

Ian Bellhouse, managing director for SE Asia & Greater China, Fitch, will lead the new operations.

New York City -- The Home Depot  has closed its last store in Beijing, highlighting the difficulties that some western companies face when trying to transplant foreign business models into China.

Home Depot, which has closed five stores on the mainland in the past two years, is struggling to find the right business format for one of the world’s most difficult home-improvement markets, local analysts said.
