Four modified 20-ft. shipping containers make up SombBlox, an homage to Somerville’s historically industrial past. The four containers create three distinct spaces that are all ADA accessible and include electrical and lighting.

Starbucks announced Thursday that it would begin a nationwide rollout of Duracell Powermat wireless charging stations after the success of a pilot program.

Seattle — Customers at Starbucks will soon be able to charge their smartphones while getting their afternoon pick-me-up. The coffee giant announced Thursday that it would begin a nationwide rollout of Duracell Powermat wireless charging stations after the success of a pilot program. The rollout will begin in the Bay Area, with plans to nationwide in 2015. Initial pilots in Europe and Asia are expected within the year.

Shopping center owner DDR Corp. has installed the third Tesla Supercharger station in its portfolio; the newest Supercharger station is located at Hamilton Marketplace in Hamilton, New Jersey, and represents the third state where a flagship Supercharger station has been activated at a DDR shopping center, following Virginia and Ohio.

Leonard Riggio, chairman of Barnes & Noble Inc., has sold 3.7 million shares of Barnes & Noble common stock.

New York -- Leonard Riggio, chairman of Barnes & Noble Inc., has sold 3.7 million shares of Barnes & Noble common stock. After the sale, his holdings are expected to represent approximately 20% of Barnes & Noble’s common stock outstanding.

Riggio said the sale is part of his long-term financial and estate planning and that he has no plans to sell more stock this calendar year.

Chicago — Jones Lang LaSalle has named Greg O’Brien chief executive officer, Americas. Reporting directly to Colin Dyer, president and CEO of JLL, O’Brien will have overall responsibility for the Americas business. He will be succeeded as CEO, Markets by John Gates. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Currently a member of the firm’s Americas Executive Committee, which sets the strategic direction for the region, O’Brien will now head this group and join the firm’s Global Executive Board.

The redeveloped Pier 17 is expected to open in 2016, with a mix of retail, dining and entertainment options highlighted by a one and a half-acre rooftop that will include a restaurant, two outdoor bars and an amphitheater that will hold up to 4,000 people for concerts and special events.
