Albany, N.Y. - Trans World Entertainment Corp., owner of the FYE music and video chain, named Michael Feurer as CEO. Feurer, who succeeds longtime Trans World leader and founder Robert J. Higgens, most recently served as CEO and president of Vanity Stores. Higgins announced in March he was retiring.

Total sales for the nine-week holiday 2013 period at Trans World Entertainment Corporation were $115 million compared to $128 million for the same period last year, a decrease of 10.2%.

Albany, N.Y. -- Total sales for the nine-week holiday 2013 period at Trans World Entertainment Corporation were $115 million compared to $128 million for the same period last year, a decrease of 10.2%. The company operated an average of 5% fewer stores during the nine-week period as compared to last year.

Same-store sales for the nine-week period ended Jan. 4, 2014 decreased 6%.

Trans World Entertainment Corp. said it has named John Anderson acting CFO, effective immediately.

Albany, N.Y. -- Trans World Entertainment Corp. said Tuesday it has named John Anderson acting CFO, effective immediately.

Anderson has served in positions of increasing responsibility at Trans World for over 18 years, most recently serving as controller since September 2006.  He replaces Tom Seaver, who will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities after a short transition period.

Seaver, most recently held the position of VP – strategic planning and previously held the position of VP – finance global PMC.

Trans World Entertainment Corp. reported Thursday that it recorded a loss of $16.1 million in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $22.3 million a year earlier.

Albany, N.Y. -- Trans World Entertainment Corp. reported Thursday that it recorded a loss of $16.1 million in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $22.3 million a year earlier.

Total sales dropped 20% to $128.8 million. Same-store sales decreased 5%.

The company, which owns the f.y.e. (For Your Entertainment) chain of music stores, operated an average of 533 stores during the quarter, compared with 694 in the same quarter last year, a 23% decline.
