On the heels of its first global marketing initiative, the company has opened a state-of-the-art flagship on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. (Oakley operates stores under the banners of Oakley Stores, Bright Eyes and The Optical Shop of Aspen, and has a varied optics brand portfolio that includes Eye Safety Systems, Oakley, Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith Spectacles.)

Lyndhurst, N.J. -- Citizen Watch Company, a leader in the mid-priced watch segment, will will a global flagship store in Times Square, New York, on Broadway in November. This will be the first Citizen Watch global retail concept store in North America.

The store will measure more than 1,300 sq. ft. and offer the full Citizen product assortment. Citizen has hired New York based architectural firm Mapos LLC.

The plan includes improving its in-store and online shopping experience, simplifying promotions, cutting costs, more disciplined inventory management, and more omni-channel integration with stores. Significantly, it not include closing stores apart from those involving standard lease expirations, top company executives said during a media presentation on Tuesday at the chain’s flagship in Times Square.

With more than 28,000 sq. ft., the location features imagery boxes, LED walls and screens, interactive iPads, mobile points-of-sale, and on-site charging stations to enhance the shopping experience.

Express has gone big in Times Square.

New York -- Express has gone big in Times Square. The specialty apparel chain has opened a three-level, 22,500-sq.-ft. store inside the historical (and landmarked) I. Miller Building.

The new location is the chain’s largest store to date, and also its most dazzling. The interior has an ultra-contemporary look, with such upscale accents as marble checkout counters and chandeliers. Merchandise is displayed in tall glass vitrines.

The sporting goods retailer has installed a virtual image of CEO Mitchell Modell to personally greet customers. The image is provided via Tensator’s “Virtual Assistant” digital signage solution, which creates the illusion of a real person.

The 42,500-sq.-ft. store has an ultra-modern, high-tech look, with talking mannequins and a digital runway (customers walk the runway floor, which triggers cameras that project their images and video onto LED screens on the store façade). In the children’s department, an illuminated carousel adds to the fun.

Buffalo Wild Wings has leased its first Midtown Manhattan location in Times Square, according to Winick Realty Group.

New York -- Buffalo Wild Wings has leased its first Midtown Manhattan location in Times Square, according to Winick Realty Group.

The 15,000-sq.-ft. flagship restaurant includes a 5,000-sq.-ft. ground floor with 22-ft. ceilings, a 2,000-sq.-ft. mezzanine, two lower levels and a 2,000-sq.-ft. roof deck for outdoor dining.

The San Francisco store is slated to open in the summer and Times Square – at the corner of 46th Street and Broadway – is expected to open in the fall.

The 28,000-sq.-ft. Times Square store, to be located on West 44th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, is slated to open fall 2011. The store will have a ground-floor entrance, but the bulk of the space will be on the basement level.

New York City -- Asking rents for retail spaces in New York City hot spots are rising in certain corridors, according to The Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) Fall 2010 Retail Report.

According to the report, since spring 2010, retail asking rents climbed 21% to $1700 per square foot in the Times Square corridor defined by Broadway and 7th Avenue between 42nd and 47th Streets.
