Annie Young-Scrivner, executive VP of Starbucks Coffee Company and president of its Teavana business, has been elected to the Macy’s Inc. board of directors.

Cincinnati - Annie Young-Scrivner, executive VP of Starbucks Coffee Company and president of its Teavana business, has been elected to the Macy’s Inc. board of directors. The addition of Young-Scrivner brings the size of the Macy’s board of directors to 11 members.

Seattle – Starbucks plans to expand a pilot of an evening alcohol and “light bites” menu that includes wine to thousands of stores nationwide. At the company’s annual shareholder meeting, Starbucks executives said the evening food and drink offerings, currently provided in about 40 test stores, will be rolled out during the next several years.

Nine-year retail operations executive and employee resources senior VP Rossann Williams has been appointed senior VP and president, Starbucks Canada.

Teavana founder and CEO Andy Mack, having helped with the integration of Teavana with Starbucks, has decided to retire from the company.

Starbucks Corp. unveiled its new retail format, Teavana Fine Teas + Tea Bar, with the debut location opening on Manhattan's East Side.

Starbucks Corp. unveiled its new retail format, Teavana Fine Teas + Tea Bar, with the debut location opening on Manhattan's  East Side. The store features a wide variety of hot brewed and iced teas, tea fusion beverages and  tea-related merchandise. It also offers a range of food items, from salads to flatbreads to pastries and other baked goods, with a bakery-like presentations.

Starbucks purchased the 300-store Teavana Holdings last year as part of its ongoing efforts to diversify and push beyond its signature beverage.

Exton, Pa. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) said Tuesday that Francesca’s Collections has opened at its Exton Square Mall property, in Exton, Pa.

The arrival of the 1,300-sq.-ft. Francesca’s store will soon be joined by Teavana, which is set to open a 1,000-sq.-ft. store this summer.

Starbucks Coffee Co. is expanding its customer loyalty program to the supermarket channel and its Teavana stores as it looks to double membership from 4.5 million members at the end of October 2012 to approximately nine million members by the end of fiscal 2013.

Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Co. is expanding its customer loyalty program to the supermarket channel and its Teavana stores as it looks to double membership from 4.5 million members at the end of October 2012 to approximately nine million members by the end of fiscal 2013.

Starbucks made the announcement at the company’s annual shareholders on Wednesday in Seattle. Also at the meeting, Starbucks investors rejected a shareholder proposal to prohibit the chain from making political contributions or forming a political action committee.

SEATTLE -- Starbucks Coffee Company announced that it has completed its acquisition of Teavana Holdings has formally closed, making Teavana a wholly-owned subsidiary of Starbucks. Teavana has some 300 locations, primarily in 300 shopping malls across the nation.  

The acquisition is the the latest addition to Starbucks emerging brands portfolio, which also includes Evolution Fresh, La Boulange, Seattle’s Best Coffee and Tazo.

Including Canada and South America in the mix, Starbucks expects to add a total of 3,000 new locations in its Americas region — and renovate thousands more — by 2017.

Starbucks Coffee Co. announced it will acquire specialty tea chain Teavana Holdings for $620 million in a move to gain traction in the $40 billion global tea industry.

Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Co. announced Wednesday it will acquire specialty tea chain Teavana Holdings for $620 million in a move to gain traction in the $40 billion global tea industry.

According to Starbucks chairman, president and CEO Howard Schultz, the coffee company plans to grow and expand Teavana’s 300 mall-based stores as well as add a neighborhood store concept to accelerate Teavana’s domestic and global footprint.

Teavana Inc. on Monday said it will buy Canadian tea retail chain Teaopia Ltd. for $26.9 million in cash.

Atlanta -- Teavana Inc. on Monday said it will buy Canadian tea retail chain Teaopia Ltd. for $26.9 million in cash. It is Teavana's first major acquisition since it went public last year.

Teaopia operates 46 stores, primarily in high-end malls across Canada and online. Last year it generated net sales of approximately $17 million and opened 12 stores.

Teavana operates 200 company-owned stores in 39 states, including one store in Canada, and 18 franchised stores primarily in Mexico, as well as through its website.
