Footwear manufacturer and retailer Skechers U.S.A. said it has upgraded and expanded its Oracle Applications investment, implemented Oracle Database and moved to Oracle On Demand to support rapid growth across its retail and wholesale channels.

New York City -- Footwear manufacturer and retailer Skechers U.S.A. said Tuesday it has upgraded and expanded its Oracle Applications investment, implemented Oracle Database and moved to Oracle On Demand to support rapid growth across its retail and wholesale channels.

The new business information systems are part of a larger initiative for the billion-dollar-plus footwear company to fuel growth, reduce total cost of ownership and enable the business to respond faster to market opportunities.

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Mid-America Asset Management Inc. said that Skechers recently signed a lease for 8,690 sq. ft. at Burbank Station in Chicago's west suburbs.

The new store is slated to open in the fall.

Burbank Station is a 303,566-sq.-ft. suburban retail center anchored by Food 4 Less, Sports Authority, Babies “R” Us, Office Max, PetSmart and HomeGoods.

Skechers USA has sued Sears Holdings Corp, alleging that the chain was selling footwear that infringed on some of Skechers brands, including its toning Shape-ups line, Reuters reported.

New York City -- Skechers USA has sued Sears Holdings Corp, alleging that the chain was selling footwear that infringed on some of Skechers brands, including its toning Shape-ups line, Reuters reported.

"While we value our relationship with Sears, their actions are causing us tremendous damage, and we simply cannot let any company, let alone a company the size of Sears, infringe on our most valuable intellectual property," Philip Paccione, general counsel of Skechers, said.
