Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to relocate its full-line Westfield University Towne Center (UTC) department store in San Diego to a new space within the evolving mall.

The new two-level, 145,000-sq.-ft. Nordstrom store will open in 2017 as part of Westfield UTC’s resort-inspired redevelopment, which is adding specialty shops, restaurants, entertainment, sustainable design features and family-friendly amenities, as well as structured parking.

British fashion house, AllSaints will open a 5,200-sq.-ft. space in late March. The international retailer now has 107 stores in eight countries.

Corner Bakery Cafe announced that it is entering the Oklahoma and Massachusetts markets, as well as three new markets in Florida and California as part of five multi-unit restaurant franchise agreements.

Dallas -- Corner Bakery Cafe announced that it is entering the Oklahoma and Massachusetts markets, as well as three new markets in Florida and California as part of five multi-unit restaurant franchise agreements.
 
The agreements represent nine new restaurants in San Diego, seven in Oklahoma, 14 in Tampa, 10 in Northeast Florida and 21 in Boston. The first cafes in each market are expected to open next year.

San Diego -- The San Diego office of Colliers International has announced that Rick Puttkammer is rejoining the firm as a senior VP. A 25-year veteran in retail property sales and leasing, Puttkammer will head up the firm’s retail division.

Most recently, Puttkammer was senior VP at Flocke & Avoyer in San Diego. From 1987 to 1997, he was senior marketing director at Colliers in San Diego.

But we may be edging closer to resurrecting a ranking based on who is building new (or, more accurately, newly repurposed) space. Closer, but still not there.

San Diego -- Walmart has completed its 100th solar installation in California, at a store on College Avenue in San Diego. After launching its solar pilot program in May 2007, Walmart strengthened its commitment to renewable energy in the state of California last year when it announced plans to expand its solar portfolio to more than 75% of its stores in California, approximately 130 stores, by the end of 2013. There are now 100 Walmart stores and Sam's Clubs in California using traditional and thin film solar installations.

PriceSmart announced that it has purchased land on which it will build a PriceSmart Warehouse Club in North Cali, Colombia.

San Diego -- PriceSmart announced that it has purchased land on which it will build a PriceSmart Warehouse Club in North Cali, Colombia. It would be the company’s third store in Colombia.

PriceSmart recently began construction of a location in South Cali, that is expected to open in October 2012. It anticipates the North Cali PriceSmart Club will open in the spring of 2013.

Net warehouse sales increased 24.1% to $468.3 million from $377.3 million, and total revenue rose to $478.7 million from $386.1 million.
