San Antonio -- The grocery industry, for the most part, lags in using online shopper insights for shopper and competitive advantage, according to a study developed in partnership with BeaconUnited, a national grocery broker, and ArchPoint Consulting, and powered by business intelligence firm Black Pearl Intelligence. Grocery-related social media conversations are now estimated at 10 million annually, yet many grocers are still slow to respond, the study found.

San Antonio, Texas -- Steak n Shake said Tuesday it has signed its first international development agreement, which will bring the concept to the Middle East.

Steak n Shake has signed an exclusive area development agreement with the Saleh Bin Lahej Group to open 40 restaurants throughout the United Arab Emirates. This agreement represents the initial expansion of the brand outside the continental United States.

Dallas -- 7-Eleven said Tuesday it will acquire the retail and wholesale assets of San Antonio-based TETCO, which includes company-operated convenience stores in Utah and the Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio areas of Texas.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and closing is expected in November. The acquisition also signals a return to San Antonio for 7-Eleven, where the company had operated stores until 1989.

Woonsocket, R.I. -- MinuteClinic announced on Thursday the debut of two walk-in medical clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores located in San Antonio,Texas.

The retail clinic operator, which opened its doors in the Lone Star state in 2006, now operates 45 clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio markets. In addition to the two clinics, a third is slated to open later this year.
 

Seattle — REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) said Tuesday it is opening a new store in San Antonio, Texas, in the fall of 2012, and will make its Florida debut – in Jacksonville – in spring 2013.

The San Antonio location will occupy 27,500 sq. ft. at Huebner Oaks and the nearly 23,400 sq. ft. store in Jacksonville will be located at The Markets at Town Center.

Oak Brook, Ill. -- Inland Western Retail Real Estate Trust has announced the acquisition of Alamo Ranch in a joint venture with RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust. The 469,031-sq.-ft. shopping center is located in San Antonio, Texas, and was purchased for approximately $92.2 million.

Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners has announced the hiring of Jon Switzer as an associate in the Austin/San Antonio office.

Switzer will specialize in landlord representation, tenant representation, and be a part of the new SRS Urban team.
 

Beachwood, Ohio -- Shopping center owner and developer Developers Diversified Realty Corp. said Wednesday it will raze Terrell Plaza shopping center in San Antonio, Texas, and an existing two-story enclosed mall at Tamarac Square in Denver, Colo., to accommodate Target Corp.’s construction of two new stores.

DDR said it intends to redevelop adjacent retail space at both centers.
