Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry has signed a lease to open its first El Paso location in a 6,057-sq.-ft. store at The Fountains at Farah, a 600,000-sq.-ft. power lifestyle center currently under construction and opening fall 2013.

rue21 announced that Stacy B. Siegal, the company's current VP, general counsel and corporate secretary, has been promoted to the additional position of chief administrative officer.

Siegal has served as the company's general counsel and corporate secretary since March 2010. In her expanded role, she will assume responsibility for human resources division while also retaining oversight of the company's legal matters, regulatory compliance and corporate communications.

rue21 and Monroe Expo Center to open at Mall of Monroe

Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said that rue21 will open a new store at Mall of Monroe, located in Frenchtown Township, Mich.

Frenchtown Township, Mich. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said Monday that rue21 will open a new store at Mall of Monroe, located in Frenchtown Township, Mich.

The 5,700-sq.-ft. store is slated to open June 2013 in the mall’s south concourse, and will be the only rue21 location in Monroe County.

Cafaro also said that The Monroe Expo Center opened Feb. 4, converted from a former retail use to a 51,000-sq.-ft. event space.

Rue21 Q3 profit rises 22%

Rue21 Inc. reported that its third-quarter profit surged 22% to $8.7 million, from $7.1 million a year earlier, as the apparel retailer opened dozens of new stores during the period.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 Inc. reported Wednesday that its third-quarter profit surged 22% to $8.7 million, from $7.1 million a year earlier, as the apparel retailer opened dozens of new stores during the period.

Revenue climbed 19% to $194.8 million, but missed Wall Street’s expected $197.3 million in revenue. The company opened 30 stores during the quarter and expanded eight into its "Rue21 etc!" format.

Rue21 Q2 profit soars 20%

Rue21 reported Wednesday that net income for the quarter ended July 30 rose 20% to $7.7 million, from $6.4 million a year earlier.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 reported Wednesday that net income for the quarter ended July 30 rose 20% to $7.7 million, from $6.4 million a year earlier. Revenue surged 21% to $172.8 million, topping Wall Street expectations.

Same-store sales for the period for flat, and the teen retailer said it faced dwindling inventory on summer merchandise, which it plans to remedy in the 2012 summer shopping season.

During the second quarter, Rue21 opened 34 stores, closed one and converted 14 to the larger rue21 etc! format.

Rue21 opens 700th store, on track to open 110 stores in fiscal 2011

Rue21 said Thursday it has opened its 700th store, located in New Braunfels, Texas.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 said Thursday it has opened its 700th store, located in New Braunfels, Texas.

The store is Rue21's 80th in the state. Year-to-date, the retailer has opened 63 stores and said it is on target to open 110 new stores and convert 35 existing stores to its larger etc! format in fiscal 2011.

Long-term growth strategy includes opening in strip centers, regional malls and outlet centers, and the New Braunfels location is Rue21's 360th strip center location.

Rue21 Q1 profit climbs 65%

Teen clothing retailer rue21 posted net income of $9.6 million for the first quarter, compared with $5.8 million.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Teen clothing retailer Rue21 posted net income of $9.6 million for the first quarter, compared with $5.8 million. The company boosted its full-year guidance based on its better-than-expected results.

Net sales increased 25.5% to $172.9 million. Same-store sales rose 5.2%.

During the quarter ended April 30, the company opened 39 new stores expanding its total to 677.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Apparel retailer Rue21 announced the opening of its 500th etc! store, in Franklin Mills, Pa. The etc! format was introduced five years ago to highlight the company's expanded accessories category, and has since been incorporated into all new Rue21 stores and remodels.

The five categories of etc! -- footwear, fragrance/beauty, accessories, jewelry, and the area brand of intimate apparel and sleepwear -- are merchandised together in approximately 1,000 sq. ft. within Rue21 stores and have been important in driving incremental sales.
