Bodaken, 61, served with Blue Shield for 18 years, including 12 in his most recent role, and currently serves as director and audit committee chairman of WageWorks, Inc. Standley has spent the past 20 years in executive leadership roles in the grocery and pharmacy retail business. He became Rite Aid Corporation’s president and COO in September 2008, was appointed to the Rite Aid board of directors in 2009 and was named CEO in June 2010. He was elected chairman of Rite Aid’s board of directors in June 2012.

Rite Aid worked with digital and healthcare communications firm Razorfish Healthware on the project.

Rite Aid Corp. reported that same-store sales for the month of January edged up 0.3%, boosted by a 4.2% rise in front-end sales for the month along with increased prescription counts.

Rite Aid Corp. reported a profit of $60.5 million for the quarter ended Dec. 1, compared with a year-earlier loss of $54.5 million and marking the first time since quarter-ended May 2007 that the drugstore retailer has turned a profit.

Prosecutors claimed Rite Aid led consumers to believe they would pay less for items bought using the company's Wellness Card, the report said. However, they were given a coupon and told it was for a future purchase that would expire and was subject to other restrictions.

For the full year, Rite Aid reported a loss of $368.6 million and revenues of $26.1 billion.

Walgreen Co. said that its same-store sales increased 0.4 percent in December, beating analysts' estimates for a decline of 0.1%.

New York City -- Walgreen Co. said Thursday that its same-store sales increased 0.4 percent in December, beating analysts' estimates for a decline of 0.1%.

Front-end sales were up 0.6%. Same-store pharmacy sales, which make up nearly 60% of total sales, rose 0.2%. Walgreen said those sales were hurt by more launches of generic drugs, as well as a milder season for coughs, colds and the flu.

Rite Aid Corp. said Thursday its December same-store sales rose 3.6%, boosted by higher pharmacy sales.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said Wednesday that Rite Aid has overcharged state agencies and at least 100 cities and towns to fill prescriptions for people receiving workers' compensation since 2002.

Camp Hill, Pa. -- Rite Aid Corp. surprised Wall Street on Thursday by paring its losses more than expected in the drug store retailer’s fiscal first quarter.

Rite Aid reported that it lost $65.5 million in the quarter ended May 28, compared with a loss of $76 million in the year-ago period. The retailer cited cost tightening and same-store sales gains for the improved performance.

Revenue was flat at $6.39 billion, the second straight quarter the company's revenue held steady. Before that, revenue fell for 10 consecutive quarters.

Montini most recently served as senior VP of category management.

In his new position, Montini will oversee field merchandising and the company’s new store format development in addition to his current responsibilities for category management. The company’s new store formats include wellness stores, value + stores and co-branded Save-A-Lot Rite Aid stores.

Walgreens on Friday reported that its same-store sales rose 3.2% in November.

New York City -- Walgreens on Friday reported that its same-store sales rose 3.2% in November. The drugstore operator’s total sales rose 8.6% to $5.83 billion. (Duane Reade stores, acquired in April 2010, contributed 2.8% points to the total sales increase for the month. But those stores are not included in the same-store sales report.)

Meanwhile, Rite Aid Corp. reported that its November same-store sales fell 1.3% due to the introduction of new generic drugs and a decline in prescriptions resulting partly from a milder flu season.
