Through the end of January 2014, customers at Walmart and Walgreens who have signed up for public health exchanges but have not yet received their plan identification information from their insurance providers will be able to fill up to a 30-day supply of prescriptions with no upfront cost.

CVS is adding a feature to its mobile app that allows customers to check for potential drug interactions by comparing over-the-counter medications they buy with existing over-the-counter and prescription medications they already take.

Woonsocket, R.I. – CVS is adding a feature to its mobile app that allows customers to check for potential drug interactions by comparing over-the-counter medications they buy with existing over-the-counter and prescription medications they already take. Customers can enter the name or scan the UPC barcode of drugs and have the app’s drug interaction checker automatically compare available product details against medications in their secure personal pharmacy histories.

The State Attorney’s office in Connecticut said Thursday that Walgreen Co. has settled a civil lawsuit with state and federal officials who accused the retailer of double-billing the government for prescription drugs.

Hartford, Conn. -- The State Attorney’s office in Connecticut said Thursday that Walgreen Co. has settled a civil lawsuit with state and federal officials who accused the retailer of double-billing the government for prescription drugs.

Walgreen has reimbursed the government for billing errors made between June 1, 2006, and Aug. 31, 2008, and admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement.
