Lowe’s announced that Lara Lee will join the company as SVP customer experience design, effective Feb. 25.

Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s announced that Lara Lee will join the company as SVP customer experience design, effective Feb. 25. She will report to Robert J. (Bob) Gfeller, customer experience design executive.
 
Lee joined Lowe’s from global design and innovation firm Continuum, where she served as chief innovation and operating officer.

Lee will be responsible for translating business strategies into integrated, multichannel experiences that deliver value to home improvement consumers.

Flur joins Belk after eight years at Family Dollar Stores, most recently as vice chair, strategy and chief administrative officer. Prior to Family Dollar Stores, Flur spent her professional career at management consulting firm McKinsey and Company.

Real estate investment firm The Cogent Group said that it has acquired 15 KFC properties in North Carolina.

Dallas -- Real estate investment firm The Cogent Group said Tuesday that it has acquired 15 KFC properties in North Carolina. The properties are leased to a franchisee.
 
The 15 units are located in prime retail corridors in the North Carolina Triad market consisting of Greensboro, Winston Salem, and High Point, with above average unit sales. The properties are subject to long-term triple net leases having an initial term of 20 years, plus renewal options.

Harris Teeter Supermarkets Inc. reported that its fiscal first-quarter net income rose nearly 67%.

Matthews, N.C. -- Harris Teeter Supermarkets Inc. reported that its fiscal first-quarter net income rose nearly 67%. The company earned $22.8 million for the quarter that ended Jan. 1, up from $13.7 million in the same quarter last year. The prior year's results included an $18 million cost to settle some pension liabilities and employee benefits in connection with the sale of its industrial thread manufacturing company.

Survey results released by loyalty program consultant Loyalogy showed that restaurant rewards programs can increase patron visits by 35%.

Asheville, N.C. -- Survey results released Wednesday by loyalty program consultant Loyalogy showed that restaurant rewards programs can increase patron visits by 35%.

According to the LoyaltyPulse U.S. study tracking consumer attitudes and behavior regarding restaurant rewards programs, consumers estimate a restaurant rewards programs would increase their visit rate to a particular restaurant by an average of 35%, and another 65% say they would recommend a restaurant more to others if that restaurant offered an appealing rewards program.

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties announced an expansion of Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, N.C.

Fayetteville, N.C. -- Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties announced an expansion of Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, N.C. The 46,000-sq.-ft. expansion will deliver new retailers to the fully leased center, such as Chico’s, Loft, White House|Black Market, Men’s Wearhouse, Reed’s Jewelers and Lane Bryant.  Additional stores and restaurants will be announced as the project progresses.  

Construction on the expansion is scheduled to begin in early 2013, with a grand opening anticipated in late fall 2013.

Brixmor Property Group said that Sleepy’s will open a 10,000-sq.-ft. store at Carolina Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C., and a 6,150-sq.-ft. store at Franklin Square in Gastonia, N.C.

Greensboro, N.C. - The Fresh Market said Wednesday it has entered into agreements to lease four new store locations that are currently operated as Rice Epicurean Markets, a family-owned specialty food retailer based in Houston.

Rice Epicurean Markets will continue to operate the stores through the end of the year, and will close these four stores during the first quarter of 2013.

7-Eleven announced that it has completed the purchase of 12 stores from Fast Track in Central North Carolina, including Winston-Salem.

Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced that it has completed the purchase of 12 stores from Fast Track  in Central North Carolina, including Winston-Salem. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.

Remodeling of the units to transform them into 7-Eleven stores gets underway in late November and rebranding is expected to be complete by mid-February 2013.

Simon Property Group and Paragon Outlet Partners, Baltimore, have signed a letter of intent to jointly develop Charlotte Premium Outlets, in Stallings, N.C.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Simon Property Group and Paragon Outlet Partners, Baltimore,  have signed a letter of intent to jointly develop Charlotte Premium Outlets, in Stallings, N.C.

Projected to open in 2014, the outlet center will be 400,000 sq. ft. and will house approximately 100 designer and name brand stores.
  
The project, which is expected to break ground during spring 2013, is a 50/50 joint venture between Simon Property Group and Paragon Outlet Partners.

Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores announced the grand opening of 12 stores, creating approximately 1,500 jobs nationwide. The company now operates 1,146 stores in 49 states.

The company is celebrating the grand opening of 12 stores in 10 states, including Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington. Of the 12 new locations, 11 are small format stores with approximately 64,000 sq. ft. or less of retail space.

Publix Super Markets announced that it has signed a lease for its first store in the state of North Carolina.

Lakeland, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets announced that it has signed a lease for its first store in the state of North Carolina. The company said it is looking forward to continued growth in the state, and that the new location will be part of a new division based in Charlotte.

The 56,000-sq. ft. store, which will be located in Ballantyne, N.C., is scheduled to open in early 2014.

Family Dollar Stores said it plans to settle a class-action matter with more than 1,700 New York store managers who filed suit on claims of unpaid overtime wages.

Matthews, N.C. -- Family Dollar Stores said Wednesday it plans to settle a class-action matter with more than 1,700 New York store managers who filed suit on claims of unpaid overtime wages.

The preliminary settlement provides for a maximum payment of $14 million by Family Dollar. Settlement terms are pending court approval, and the discounter plans to record a fourth quarter charge to cover the costs.
