Most consumers in the U.S., U.K., and Australia are not using mobile technology for holiday shopping this year, but many will use mobile devices for product research and in-store showrooming.

Wakefield, Mass. – Most consumers in the U.S., U.K., and Australia are not using mobile technology for holiday shopping this year, but many will use mobile devices for product research and in-store showrooming. According to results of the 2013 Holiday Preferences Study from SDL, the majority of consumers in the U.S. (64%), U.K. (68%) and Australia (67%) are not using a tablet or smartphone more this year to purchase gifts.

Covington, La. — Stirling Properties has opened a new office in downtown Mobile, Ala. The company’s first location in the state, the new office joins 11 others located in Louisiana and Mississippi, further strengthening Stirling’s presence in the Gulf South.

“This office will not only serve the surging market and growing economy of Mobile but also anchor the eastern side of the Interstate 10 corridor for Stirling Properties,” said Marty Mayer, Stirling’s president and CEO.

Two-thirds of gas and convenience mobiles searches use mobile devices exclusively, according to survey results by xAd/Telmetrics.

New York -- Two-thirds of gas and convenience mobiles searches use mobile devices exclusively, according to survey results by xAd/Telmetrics.

The 2013 U.S. Mobile Path-to-Purchase Study, conducted by Nielsen, revealed that 85% of search time in the gas and convenience category is spent on a smartphone, with most conducting gas price comparisons/searches.

The category also offers one of the highest mobile conversion rates — nearly 90% — as most mobile users who search for these services are ultimately making a purchase.

While a Web presence is a prerequisite to doing business in the 21st century, the fact that 77% of consumers are now using tablet computers or smartphones to shop is forcing retailers to rethink their digital strategies, according to a survey from online price comparison engine PriceGrabber. Realizing this is not a decision to be taken lightly, retailers need to take steps to ensure that mobility can be an opportunity, and not a threat, to their business.

Susan Riddle and Kelly Anderson have joined the team as marketing coordinators and will be responsible for executing the national and local marketing strategies.

Riddle comes to SRS from Rowland Constructors where she was the marketing coordinator/executive assistant to the managing partner. Anderson joins SRS from Pilot Catastrophe where she served as an independent contractor for Allstate Insurance.

VeriFone Systems said Tuesday it has acquired mobile retail solution-provider Global Bay Mobile Technologies.

San Jose, Calif. -- VeriFone Systems said Tuesday it has acquired mobile retail solution-provider Global Bay Mobile Technologies. According to VeriFone, the acquisition is part of its strategy to integrate mobile with retail and payments, extending new smartphone- and tablet-based shopping and payment experiences to retail organizations.

Terms of the transaction, which closed effective Tuesday, were not disclosed.
