eBay announced that revenue for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 increased 35% to $3.4 billion, compared with the same period of 2010.

San Jose, Calif. — eBay announced that revenue for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 increased 35% to $3.4 billion, compared with the same period of 2010. The company reported fourth quarter net income on a GAAP basis of $2 billion, or $1.51 per diluted share, and non-GAAP net income of $788.6 million, or 60 cents per diluted share. The year-over-year increase in the fourth quarter GAAP earnings per diluted share was driven primarily by a gain on the sale of the company's remaining investment in Skype.

eBay reported that revenue for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 32% to $3 billion, compared with the same period of 2010. The company reported third-quarter net income on a GAAP basis of $490.5 million, up from $432 million in the year-ago period.

Indianapolis -- Shoe retailer Finish Line said Thursday it has released an e-commerce enabled app for Apple and Android that provides geo-targeted store location and real-time inventory functions.

Based on the location of the user, the free app provides detailed store location information including address, phone number and driving directions. Once a store is selected, users have real-time visibility to the specific inventory of that store, effectively giving them remote access to view what’s on the sales floor and in the back room.

Seattle -- Amazon said Monday it has launched a new app to support AmazonFresh on Android phones.

AmazonFresh, a division of Amazon, is available only in the Seattle area and is a service for ordering groceries online for home delivery.

With the new application, users can shop complete grocery and selected Amazon.com aisles, choose home delivery times, view past purchases, and place orders.

The app also includes features such as barcode scanning and list functionality.

Seattle -- Starbucks Corp. launched an application Wednesday that lets customers purchase goods with their Android smartphones. The company already has similar applications nationwide for BlackBerry and iPhone and iPod touch in January.

The application also allows customers to load their Starbucks loyalty card accounts, check card balances and find stores nearby, and it notifies customers of promotions and other discounts.
