Sembler reinvents Park 66 property

The Sembler Co. announced that it is redeveloping its Park 66 shopping center, located in St. Petersburg, Fla., and owned by the company since 1970.

St. Petersburg, Fla. -- The Sembler Co. announced Monday that it is redeveloping its Park 66 shopping center, located in St. Petersburg, Fla., and owned by the company since 1970.

A Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is being added to the property as part of the redevelopment – slated to open fall 2013 – and other tenants are being relocated.

Sembler launches new website

The Sembler Co. announced that, in celebration of the firm’s 50th anniversary, it has launched a new website, Sembler.com.

St. Petersburg, Fla. -- The Sembler Co. announced Monday that, in celebration of the firm’s 50th anniversary, it has launched a new website, Sembler.com.

This is the second major revision to the website since the initial launch in 2002. With technology and social media changes, the new site enables better interaction among The Sembler Co., its clients, vendors, and associates.

Sembler names southeast development head

The Sembler Co. said that Charlie Heard has joined the firm as VP development and southeast market leader for the company.

Atlanta -- The Sembler Co. said that Charlie Heard has joined the firm as VP development and southeast market leader for the company. He will be based in Atlanta.

Heard’s duties consist of pursuing new shopping center development opportunities in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.  He has been involved in development projects for retailers such as Publix, Kroger, Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, CVS and Walgreen's and has worked with top-tier retailers on site selection across industry sectors.

Golden Anniversary

Relocating a business and a family from Memphis, Tenn., to St. Petersburg, Fla., is a short distance in miles, but for The Sembler Co., which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the journey has been much longer.

“We have developed 350 projects, including 125 or 130 shopping centers,” said Mel Sembler, recently named chairman emeritus. “It’s been an interesting career.”
