Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has installed eight solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays in Massachusetts.

Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has installed eight solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays in Massachusetts.

The arrays contain almost 10,000 solar panels that Wal-Mart estimates will generate 2.8 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy every year, eliminating almost 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Wegmans is pushing back the scheduled opening of a new store in Newton, Mass., until spring 2014.

New York – Wegmans is pushing back the scheduled opening of a new store in Newton, Mass., until spring 2014. The grocery retailer is citing construction delays and demands of other projects, such as the upcoming grand opening of a replacement store in Rochester, N.Y., this Sunday, for causing the later opening of the new suburban Boston location.

Wegmans currently operates one store in Massachusetts, a 138,000-sq.-ft. facility in the town of Northborough.

Deval Patrick has agreed to allow the construction of a 4.5-acre complex called Fenway Center in the area around Fenway Park in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood. Developer John Rosenthal will pay $226 million in rental fees to build the development, which will include retail stores as well as homes and office buildings.

The development includes state-owned land as well as air rights over the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Foxborough, Mass. -- Charter Realty & Development said that it has signed a lease with consignment boutique Chic 2 Chic at the Foxborough Plaza, a 118,844-sq.-ft. shopping center in Foxborough, Mass.

The 22,000-sq.-ft. store is a relocation from downtown Foxborough and is the company’s only current store in the state.

The Foxborough Plaza, owned and managed by WP Realty, is almost 100% occupied, anchored by Ocean State Job Lot, and also featuring Dollar Tree, Dunkin Donuts and Xtreme Fitness.

New York -- Ikea has officially plugged-in the solar energy system installed at its store in Stoughton, Mass. The 118,000-sq.-ft. array consists of a 590.8-kW (DC) system, built with 4,220 laminated panels. It will produce approximately 695,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, the equivalent of reducing 479 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), eliminating the emissions of 94 cars or powering 60 homes yearly (calculating clean energy equivalents).

Destination XL Group reported that net income for the quarter ended Feb. 2 dropped to $4.2 million from $33.5 million in the year-ago period, as the company continued its transition from Casual Male to Destination XL.

Fourth-quarter revenue increased to $114.9 million, compared with $111.1 million last year, and same-store sales edged up 0.5%. By brand, DXL stores saw a same-store sales rise of 15% in the quarter, while Casual Male dipped 2.3%.

Despite the strong showing, TJX forecast a slowed growth pace for the new fiscal year and issued a profit forecast below analysts’ expectations. And joining many other retailers, the company announced that beginning with the fiscal 2014 second quarter, it will no longer report monthly sales.
