Xcel Brands has announced the opening of the Isaac Mizrahi New York store in Woodstock, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta.

New York — Xcel Brands has announced the opening of the Isaac Mizrahi New York store in Woodstock, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta. The 2,000-sq.-ft. shop will open on March 29.

Xcel Brands acquires, designs, licenses and markets consumer brands through an omnichannel sales strategy that includes interactive media, digital and brick-and-mortar retail. In 2011, the company acquired the Isaac Mizrahi New York designer apparel brand and an interest in Liz Claiborne New York.

Fifth & Pacific Cos., formerly known as Liz Claiborne, agreed to sell its Juicy Couture brand to Authentic Brands Group for $195 million, according to various reports.

The quickest, surest and most cost-effective way to increase store sales is to improve each store's conversion rate.

It's estimated that more than 50% of North American specialty retailers have installed traffic monitoring/counting systems in some or all of their stores. But many retailers have failed to take advantage of the fact that the data these increasingly sophisticated devices generate can help them improve performance and capitalize on sales.

Kate Spade will have full ownership of Kate Spade Japan Co. after it buys Sanei International Co.'s 51%  stake in the business. Fifth & Pacific said the deal is expected to cost $45 million to $50 million, including debt repayment and transaction fees.

Liz Claiborne Inc. said that it has officially changed its name to Fifth & Pacific Cos., following an initial announcement in January that it would do so.

New York -- Liz Claiborne Inc. said Tuesday that it has officially changed its name to Fifth & Pacific Cos., following an initial announcement in January that it would do so.

The company sold the Liz Claiborne and Monet brands to J.C. Penney Co. in November, freeing it up to concentrate more fully on its Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand and Kate Spade labels.

Liz Claiborne Inc. reported that it narrowed its loss in the first quarter to $60.6 million, compared with a $96.3 million loss in the year-ago period.

New York -- Liz Claiborne Inc. reported Thursday that it narrowed its loss in the first quarter to $60.6 million, compared with a $96.3 million loss in the year-ago period. Strong sales of the company’s Kate Spade and Lucky Brands goods strengthened the results.

Revenue for the period fell 4% to $317.1 million from $330.7 million, but beat Wall Street’s estimated $307.4 million in revenue.

Discovery Communications said that Liz Claiborne Inc. CFO Andrew Warren is joining the company as finance chief.

Warren will succeed Brad Singer, who said last year he would depart Discovery at the end of March.
