The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has inked an exclusive deal with developer L.A. Style to expand the coffee and tea retailer into Japan by the end of this year.

Los Angeles — The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has inked an exclusive deal with developer L.A. Style to expand the coffee and tea retailer into Japan by the end of this year.

L.A. Style is a joint-venture partnership between fast-casual restaurateur Hotland Co. and Japan’s largest shopping mall developer Aeon Mall Co.
The deal ultimately calls for 200 stores across Japan.

A test kitchen in Northridge, Calif., was launched in April 2012 and three additional locations soon followed.

Using a 900-degree, stone-hearth oven, pizzas are ready in about three minutes, all at a cost of less than $8 per pie.

Southern California’s PizzaRev aims to do for pizza what Chipotle has done for burritos. The young chain got its start in April 2012 with a “test kitchen” in Northridge, Calif., and, amid stellar Yelp! reviews and robust sales, is already on the verge of opening its third location, with more units planned for 2013.

Dallas -- Venture Commercial Real Estate said it represented L.A. Fitness in the completion of a long-term lease for a 50,000-sq.-ft. facility in the new Cityville at Cityplace mixed-use development, under construction in Dallas.

“Urban infill presents a challenge as we expand to open new clubs in densely populated areas such as Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood,” said John Gabriel, senior VP real estate for LA Fitness.

Venture Commercial has helped L.A. Fitness secure 27 locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Watt Commercial Properties said it has completed a $6 million renovation of Alicia Towne Plaza in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Mission Viejo, Calif. -- Watt Commercial Properties said it has completed a $6 million renovation of Alicia Towne Plaza in Mission Viejo, Calif.

The 19-month redevelopment project included converting an existing Mervyn’s building for L.A. Fitness and updating the façade treatment for the remainder of the 150,000-sq.-ft. property.
