Total sales for the first quarter decreased 2.6% to $196.1 million from $201.4 million in year-ago period.

Jos. A. Bank Clothiers reported that net income for the fiscal year ended Feb. 2 slid to $79.7 million, from $97.5 million in the prior year.

Annual sales rose 7.1% to a record $1.05 billion, from $979.9 million. Same-store sales decreased 0.5%.

Jos. A. Bank had warned that net income for fiscal year 2012 was expected to be approximately 20% lower than net income for fiscal year 2011.

The company said it expects to open another 200 stores in the future as part of its long-term plan to grow the chain to approximately 800 stores, including 700 full-line stores and 100 factory stores in the United States.

Hampstead, Md. -- JoS. A. Bank Clothiers said Wednesday it has launched Josbankformal.com, a new tuxedo rental website.

The site will allow couples to register their weddings and access an event dashboard to monitor order status and communicate with a wedding party through emails or text messaging.  

Event information will flow seamlessly to stores, where associates can access existing events or create new ones, and confirm orders.

JoS A. Bank Clothiers reported that its earnings in the second quarter rose 12.7% to $23.2 million, from $20.6 million a year earlier, easily beating analysts projections.

Hampstead, Md. -- JoS A. Bank Clothiers reported that its earnings in the second quarter rose 12.7% to $23.2 million, from $20.6 million a year earlier, easily beating analysts projections. The retailer said it plans to open about 45 to 50 stores each in fiscal 2012 and 2013.

Total sales in the quarter rose 12.9% to $260.3 million. Sales in the company's direct marketing segment, which consists of the Internet and catalog call centers, rose 39.3%.Same-store store sales increased 6.1%.

Hampstead, Md. -- JoS. A. Bank Clothiers said Wednesday that Frank J. Barbarino has been promoted to senior VP and general merchandise manager for the chain, effective April 15.

In his new role, Barbarino will continue to lead the Tailored Clothing Department and will add Sportswear and Furnishings to his responsibilities. He will oversee product design, manufacturing and sourcing, as well as all retailing of the company’s merchandise lines.

Barbarino was most recently VP for tailored clothing.

JoS A. Bank Clothiers Inc. said that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit rose 8% amid improved sales.

Hampstead, Md. -- JoS A. Bank Clothiers Inc. said Wednesday that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit rose 8% amid improved sales. But the chain cautioned that softer-than-expected customer traffic and milder winter weather is pressuring its first-quarter performance.

Jos. A. Bank reported net income of $44.1 million for the period ended Jan. 28, up from $40.9 million a year earlier.

Revenue increased 9% to $346.3 million, from $318.3 million.

However, the chain warned that its forth quarter has started out more slowly than expected, and that it has adjusted its December merchandising and marketing plans for the stores.

Total sales increased 21.0% to $209.6 million, from $173.3 million. Same-store sales rose 14.6% and direct marketing sales increased 28.6%.
