RECon 2012 left landlords and tenants anticipating what’s to come

A heat wave washed over Las Vegas just in time for the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual RECon event May 20-23 — and the mood inside the Las Vegas Convention Center was just as elevated.

The 1.5 million-sq.-ft. center, in Elizabeth, N.J., will be rebranded The Outlet Collection/Jersey Gardens as part of a new strategy by developer Glimcher Realty Trust to introduce a new brand designation for its outlet centers going forward.

New York City -- Glimcher Realty Trust announced the completion of a 4.8-megawatt rooftop solar system at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, N.J. The project, which ranks among the largest rooftop systems in North America, broke ground in June 2011 and began producing power this week.

Glimcher Realty Trust, owner of Jersey Gardens outlet mall in Elizabeth, N.J., said that it has begun the installation for one of the largest single-roof top solar systems in North America.

Elizabeth, N.J. -- Glimcher Realty Trust, owner of Jersey Gardens outlet mall in Elizabeth, N.J., said that it has begun the installation for one of the largest single-roof top solar systems in North America.

The 4.8 megawatt solar array will generate enough power to offset 11% of the electrical consumption of the mall.

Jersey Gardens, with 1.3 million sq. ft. of leasable space, features tenants such as Gap Outlet, H&M, Lord & Taylor Outlet, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Nike Factory Store and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.
