Guess, Inc. has appointed Hillary Super as SVP, general merchandise manager for Guess, reporting to Paul Marciano, co-founder and CEO of Guess.

Los Angeles -- Guess, Inc. has appointed Hillary Super as SVP, general merchandise manager for Guess, reporting to Paul Marciano, co-founder and CEO of Guess.

In this role, Hillary will be responsible for product categories for Guess as the lead merchant for the company, and she will also be a key member of the Guess senior management team. Previously, Hillary spent six years in senior merchant roles at American Eagle and four years at Gap where she oversaw multiple brands and product categories.

Guess Inc. reported a profit of $36.6 million for the third quarter, down 44.7% from net earnings of $66.3 million in the same period last year.

Los Angeles -- Guess Inc. reported Wednesday a profit of $36.6 million for the third quarter, down 44.7% from net earnings of $66.3 million in the same period last year.
 
Revenue fell 2.2% to $628.8 million, from $642.8 million in the prior-year quarter, but beating analysts’ expected $624.8 million in revenue. Retail sales in North America dipped 1.3% to $262.1 million. Same-store sales overall dropped 6%.
 
The company said economic pressures hurt consumer confidence in most of its markets.

Guess said that its COO J. Michael Prince and CFO Dennis Secor both have resigned the company to pursue other interests.

Los Angeles -- Guess said Thursday that its COO J. Michael Prince and CFO Dennis Secor both have resigned the company to pursue other interests.

Prince’s departure is effective Nov. 26 and Secor will stay until Dec. 7.

The company said it does not have any immediate plans to replace the COO position and will realign these responsibilities among various senior executives. Michael Relich, executive VP and CIO, will assume additional operational responsibilities, including logistics.

Guess Inc. reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $42.9 million, from $60.7 million a year ago.

Los Angeles -- Guess Inc. on Wednesday reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $42.9 million, from $60.7 million a year ago. The company also lowered its full-year earnings outlook.

Total net revenue for the quarter ended July 28 fell 6.2% to $635.4 million, from $677.2 million.

The company’s retail stores in North America generated revenue of $253.0 million in the second quarter, down 3.1% from $261.1 million in the same period a year ago. Same-store sales fell 8.5%.

The “Color Me Inspired” contest, for which Guess collaborated with four style bloggers, invites the Pinterest community to showcase how color inspires them for a chance to win a pair of color-coated denim from the Guess spring collection.

The one-week Pinterest campaign kicked off on March 8.

Kuchinad joined Guess on Feb. 1. His experience also includes senior executive roles at Nike and Starbucks Coffee Co.

Tarshis joined the company on Feb. 13. She most recently served as chief marketing officer for The Hub TV Network, a joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro.

Guess Inc. said Wednesday that profit for the quarter ended Oct. 29 fell 4% as the clothing company's tax rate increased.

Los Angeles -- Guess Inc. said Wednesday that profit for the quarter ended Oct. 29 fell 4% as the clothing company's tax rate increased. The chain reported net income of $66.3 million, compared with $69.1 million in the year-ago period. The company's effective tax rate rose to 32.3% during the quarter from 29.1% a year earlier. As a result, the incomes taxes Guess paid rose 5% to $31.9 million.

Total revenue increased 9.8% to $592.2 million, beating analysts' predictions of $567.7 million. Strength in Asia, where revenue rose 24%, drove the increase. Revenue in Europe also helped, rising 12%. Revenue in North America was the weakest, up 5%.

Same-store sales fell 3.1% in U.S. dollars.
