Grubb & Ellis Co. said that Bay Area Family Fitness Centers has leased 38,133 sq. ft. of retail space at Gould Shopping Center, in San Jose, Calif.

Walnut Creek, Calif. -- Grubb & Ellis Co. said that Bay Area Family Fitness Centers has leased 38,133 sq. ft. of retail space at Gould Shopping Center, in San Jose, Calif.

The space will serve as the second location for the company, which markets affordable fitness. It is expected to open by year-end.

Grubb & Ellis Co. said Wednesday that it represented Gulf Coast Commercial Group in the sale of Westheimer Crossing Shopping Center, a 94,053-sq.-ft. retail center in Houston.

Houston -- Grubb & Ellis Co. said Wednesday that it represented Gulf Coast Commercial Group in the sale of Westheimer Crossing Shopping Center, a 94,053-sq.-ft. retail center in Houston.

Delta Troy Interests Ltd. purchased the property for an undisclosed price.  The property was approximately 90% occupied at the time of sale to multiple tenants, including DSW, REI and Michaels Stores.

In follow-up to its prior announcement that it would explore strategic alternatives, including a potential sale or merger, real estate services and investment firm Grubb & Ellis Co. said Tuesday that is exclusivity period with Colony Capital LLC, which had expressed interest in exploring a strategic transaction with Grubb & Ellis, ended on May 29.

Santa Ana, Calif. -- In follow-up to its prior announcement that it would explore strategic alternatives, including a potential sale or merger, real estate services and investment firm Grubb & Ellis Co. said Tuesday that is exclusivity period with Colony Capital LLC, which had expressed interest in exploring a strategic transaction with Grubb & Ellis, ended on May 29. Grubb & Ellis said that, while it will continue its discussions with Colony, it will engage in additional discussions with other parties.

Whittwood Town Center is approximately 97% leased, with national tenants including J.C. Penney, Target, Vons, Kohl’s, PetSmart, 24 Hour Fitness and Panera Bread.

Sechser returns to Grubb & Ellis after spending nearly 12 years with Colliers International, where he was a senior VP and co-director of the company’s Walnut Creek Retail division.

Grubb & Ellis Co. Said it has secured two new leases for Loft, a division of Ann Taylor Stores Corp., for a total of 10,589 sq. ft. of retail space in Marina Del Ray and Calabasas, Calif.

Newport Beach, Calif. -- Grubb & Ellis Co. Said it has secured two new leases for Loft, a division of Ann Taylor Stores Corp., for a total of 10,589 sq. ft. of retail space in Marina Del Ray and Calabasas, Calif. 

The company signed a 10-year lease for 5,420 sq. ft. at Waterside in Marina Del Ray, and 5,169 sq. ft. at The Commons at Calabasas.

The two new stores are expected to open this spring. 

Both properties are owned by Caruso Affiliated.

Grubb & Ellis Co. said Friday that H&M has leased 19,600 sq. ft. of retail space at The Forum in Carlsbad.

Newport Beach, Calif. -- Grubb & Ellis Co. said Friday that H&M has leased 19,600 sq. ft. of retail space at The Forum in Carlsbad. 

The retailer signed a 10-year lease for the space, which includes a portion of the second level of The Forum. The company will take the majority of the space currently occupied by Borders Direct LLC, which is expected to vacate in spring 2011. 

The retailer, which plans to open its Carlsbad location in summer 2011, now has 2,200 stores in 38 countries.

Calvert, who joins as manager, Lease Administration, spent two years as a real estate administrator with SRS Real Estate Partners, where she was responsible for commercial portfolios spanning approximately 350 locations. Munoz, who will also serve on the lease administration team, spent seven years with SRS Real Estate Partners, ultimately rising to the position of lead real estate administrator.
