PGA Tour Superstore to open in Irvine, Calif.

PGA Tour Superstore will open its second store on the West Coast, a 50,000-sq.ft, location in Irvine, Calif., later this year.

Roswell, Ga. -- PGA Tour Superstore will open its second store on the West Coast, a 50,000-sq.ft, location in Irvine, Calif., later this year.

"We are excited to be expanding into Southern California, which encompasses one of the nation's most renowned golf areas in the country," said PGA Tour Superstore president and CEO Dick Sullivan.

With the addition of this store, the number of PGA Tour Superstores will increase nationwide to 17.

PGA Tour Superstore to make California debut

PGA Tour Superstore announced that its first store on the West Coast will be in East Palo Alto, Calif., and is slated to open spring 2013.

Roswell, Ga. -- PGA Tour Superstore announced Tuesday that its first store on the West Coast will be in East Palo Alto, Calif., and is slated to open spring 2013.

The 47,000-sq.-ft. store will open in a former Best Buy location and will bring the company’s total store count to 16 nationwide. The stores are owned and operated by Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, whose controlling owner and chairman is Arthur M. Blank , retired Home Depot co-founder and owner of the Atlanta Falcons.

PGA Tour Superstore announced it will open its first Northeast location, in Paramus, N.J., on Nov. 21.

Roswell, Ga. -- PGA Tour Superstore announced it will open its first Northeast location, in Paramus, N.J., on Nov. 21. The 57,000 sq.-ft. store will offer a selection of golf merchandise and apparel.

Downers Grove is PGA Tour Superstore's 14th retail location. The stores are owned and operated by Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, whose controlling owner and chairman is Arthur M. Blank, retired Home Depot co-founder and current owner of the Atlanta Falcons.

Canada’s Golf Town to acquire Golfsmith International

Golf Town, Canada's largest specialty golf retailer, will acquire Golfsmith International Holdings Inc. for approximately $97.2 million.

Toronto -- Golf Town, Canada's largest specialty golf retailer, will acquire Golfsmith International Holdings Inc. for approximately $97.2 million. The Canadian company will pay $6.10 per share in cash, which represents a 30% premium over the Austin, Texas-based Golfsmith’s Friday closing stock price of $4.71.

Golfsmith operates 85 stores in the United States.

Golf Town in U.S. debut with five stores in greater Boston

Canadian golf retailer Golf Town said Thursday it has opened its first five stores in the United States, all located in the greater Boston area.

Toronto -- Canadian golf retailer Golf Town said Thursday it has opened its first five stores in the United States, all located in the greater Boston area.

The $25 million U.S. market expansion includes stores in Avon, Bellingham, Reading, Seekonk and Watertown, Mass., all of which opened on March 24 and total about 100,000 sq. ft. A sixth store is slated to open in Northborough, Mass. in the fall.
