Dallas — SRS Real Estate Partners has hired Daniel Poku as an associate in the Dallas/Fort Worth office. A newcomer to the industry, Poku has a background in economics.

Poku is a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University. Poku is also currently pursuing a new venture called CauseCakes, with plans to launch fall 2014. CauseCakes partnered with a local bakery to provide cupcakes with wrappers that prompt acts of random kindness for special events and corporate meetings.

RadioShack Corp. reported a widening net loss in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2015. The troubled retailer also confirmed plans to close up to 200 stores by the end of the year, based on location, area demographics, lease life and financial performance.

Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack Corp. reported a widening net loss in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2015. The troubled retailer also confirmed plans to close up to 200 stores, based on location, area demographics, lease life and financial performance.

The retailer reported a net loss of $98.3 million, up from $28 million in the same quarter the prior fiscal year.

RadioShack is partnering with hardware manufacturer and accelerator PCH International to create RadioShack Labs, a collaboration to help inventors and start-ups bring their products direct to the market — and hopefully boost store traffic.

Fort Worth, Texas -- RadioShack is partnering with hardware manufacturer and accelerator PCH International to create RadioShack Labs, a collaboration to help inventors and start-ups bring their products direct to the market — and hopefully boost store traffic. As part of the agreement, the retailer will open dedicated areas in RadioShack stores that feature new and innovative products from startups. The shops will utilize a direct-to-store model for select products, reducing inventory requirements and increasing inventory turn in the stores.

The shrinking recession-era economy forced consumers to shop down, to seek out values, to wait for sales and to relentlessly refuse to pay full price. Even as the economy has begun to improve, consumers retained their commitment to off-price shopping. Dallas — SRS Real Estate Partners has named Carissa Brown senior associate in the Dallas-Fort Worth office. Brown will focus on tenant representation, landlord representation and SRS urban services.

Brown joins SRS from Venture Commercial, where she specialized in site selection and market expansion strategies for retailers. She was a member of Venture Commercial’s top producing team for 2013, helping to increase production by more than 75%.

Troy Risch, executive VP of store operations at RadioShack Corp., has resigned to pursue other unspecified interests.

Fort Worth, Texas – Troy Risch, executive VP of store operations at RadioShack Corp., has resigned to pursue other unspecified interests. The resignation is effective April 18, and his duties will be temporarily taken over by other executives.

Risch joined the company in December 2012. RadioShack is currently in the process of closing 1,000 stores. He previously spent 19 years at Target Corp. No timetable has been given to hire a permanent replacement.

WinCo Foods has agreed to develop an 85,000-sq.-ft. modern grocery store at Old Orchard Village East in Lewisville, Texas.

WinCo Foods, founded in Idaho in 1967, is an employee-owned discount grocery that operates 87 stores and plans to expand into Dallas-Fort Worth metro region with 15 new stores over the next several years.

The deal will take the Old Orchard Village East center from 60% leased to 100% leased and make it possible to carry out a $20 million transformational redevelopment.
