Vestis Retail Group, parent company of Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), has named James Petty as CEO effective July 8, 2013.

Meriden, Conn. – Vestis Retail Group, parent company of Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), has named James Petty as CEO effective July 8, 2013. Petty most recently served as president of retail stores for Cartier Inc. from 2007 to December 2012 and left the company after it relocated its retail group headquarters from Connecticut to Georgia. He also previously held executive positions at Limited Too and Gap Inc.

Versa Capital Management, a Philadelphia-based private equity investment firm, has acquired Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), effective immediately.

Philadelphia -- Versa Capital Management, a Philadelphia-based private equity investment firm, has acquired Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), effective immediately. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mark Walsh, a Versa principal and chairman of Bob’s Stores, a northeastern apparel retailer that is part of the Versa portfolio, will serve as chairman of the board of EMS, which operates 69 stores in 12 Eastern states.

Eastern Mountain Sports announced plans to open three stores during the next three months.

Peterborough, N.H. -- Eastern Mountain Sports announced plans to open three stores during the next three months.

The company is moving an existing location at the Plaza at Buckland Hills in Manchester, Conn., approximately 12 storefronts down into a new, 18,831-sq.-ft. site. It also is opening a 20,442-sq.-ft. store in South Portland, Maine, and a 13,013-sq.-ft, location in North Brunswick, N.J.

San Jose, Calif. -- VeriFone Systems announced Thursday that outdoor retailer Eastern Mountain Sports has successfully piloted the VeriFone GlobalBay iPad solution in four stores and is readying a 2012 rollout.

The VeriFone GlobalBay platform is a software-as-a-service offering that enables a suite of next-generation mobile retail software for retailer-to-consumer interaction and leverages retailers' existing POS, e-commerce and store systems.

Katz & Associates, the exclusive broker for Eastern Mountain Sports, announced that the retailer has executed a lease for a 3,000-sq.-ft. flagship on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Pearl River, N.J. -- Katz & Associates, the exclusive broker for Eastern Mountain Sports, announced that the retailer has executed a lease for a 3,000-sq.-ft. flagship on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The two-level store, EMS’ second to date in Manhattan, will be located on the southeast corner of Broadway and West 76th Street. It is scheduled to open this fall.
