American Apparel Inc. announced four new directors to its board, including the company’s first-ever female board member, Colleen Brown, a former CEO of Fisher Communications, and former Walgreens executive Joseph Magnacca, who took the reins as CEO of RadioShack last year.

New York -- American Apparel Inc. announced  four new directors to its board, including the company’s first-ever female board member, Colleen Brown, a former CEO of Fisher Communications, and former Walgreens executive Joseph Magnacca, who took the reins as CEO of RadioShack last year.  

The other new directors are  David Glazek, a partner with hedge fund Standard General, which holds a nearly 44% stake in American Apparel, and Thomas J. Sullivan, a director of Media General.

Branding agency CBX has named Anthony Simon as group director of branded environments.

New York -- Branding agency CBX has named Anthony Simon as group director of branded environments. Simon, most recently design director at New York’s TPG Architecture, has 20 years of experience in retail and restaurant design.

“Anthony brings a diverse perspective to CBX,”  said Joseph Bona, CBX’s president of branded environments. “He has an impressive background and has worked with a broad spectrum of specialty retail and restaurant clients.”

The Children’s Place Inc. has named Susan Sobbott to the board of directors as a Class II director to serve for a three-year term expiring in 2017.

Secaucus, N.J. — The Children’s Place Inc. has named Susan Sobbott to the board of directors as a Class II director to serve for a three-year term expiring in 2017. Sobbott currently holds the position of president of Global Corporate Payments, a global division of the American Express Company. From 2004 to early 2014, she was President and General Manager of American Express Open. The addition of Sobbott expands the company's board of directors to eight.

The project includes an enclosed shopping mall, power center, strip center, outparcels, restaurants, and office space.

A group director for two Tiffany & Co. stores in Houston has filed a lawsuit alleging the retailer discriminates against African-Americans in hiring and promotions for management and executive-level jobs.

New York – A group director for two Tiffany & Co. stores in Houston has filed a lawsuit alleging the retailer discriminates against African-Americans in hiring and promotions for management and executive-level jobs. A complaint filed by Michael McClure in federal court in New York on May 29 says that McClure is the only African-American holding one of 200 U.S. management-level positions at Tiffany, and that there are no African-American executives in the company.

Indianapolis — Simon Property Group has named Mona Benisi director of sustainability. Benisi’s responsibilities will include advancing and leading all aspects of Simon’s sustainability strategy. That strategy includes recycling, water management and renewable energy programs.

Benisi will also lead the company’s sustainability task force, direct and manage measurement and reporting of critical sustainability metrics, including CDP, the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark and GRI.

Retail design and brand strategy firm Interbrand Design Forum announced that Ryan Brazelton has returned to the company as a senior director of design.

Dayton, Ohio -- Retail design and brand strategy firm Interbrand Design Forum announced that Ryan Brazelton has returned to the company as a senior director of design.  

Most recently Brazelton worked for Aveda as global design director. In that role he oversaw store design, packaging and the development of corporate collateral, in addition to campaign design across all forms of media. Prior to that, he served as design director at Fitch. Brazelton was previously with Interbrand Design Forum for six years as the group leader of graphic design.
