Google made a quiet announcement that it is officially launching the pilot of its Google Shopping Express program, which features online delivery initially in the San Francisco Bay area.

San Francisco -- Google made a quiet announcement on Friday that it is officially launching the pilot of its Google Shopping Express program, which features online delivery initially in the San Francisco Bay area.

In a notice on the company’s website, Google Shopping Express product management director Tom Fallows described the program as a “new experiment,” one that offers “a local delivery service that we hope will make it possible for you to get the items you order online the same day, and at a low cost."

Mood Media announced that it is consolidating its portfolio companies — Muzak, DMX and Mood Media — into a single global brand under the Mood banner.

Toronto -- Mood Media announced that it is consolidating its portfolio companies — Muzak, DMX and Mood Media — into a single global brand under the Mood banner. Mood acquired Muzak, which was founded in 1934, in 2011.  

“It’s the end of an iconic American brand,” said Lorne Abony, chairman and CEO Mood Media, in a New York Times report.

I’m an avid user of Blockbuster’s DVD-by-mail rental program, Total Access. I chose this service over that of competitor Netflix because I like the option of going into the store and exchanging my mailed DVD for another—free of charge—while the next selection in my queue is being shipped.
