Any good retailer gets to know its customers, and not just their product preferences but also who they are, where they come from and what they aspire to. This type of intimate knowledge allows retailers to forecast and meet product demand with the highest degree of accuracy.

Dallas -- Weis Markets has selected Retalix's Demand-Driven Replenishment solution to optimize its overall in-stock position and reduce excess inventory and out-of-stocks in its stores.

“We wanted a system that could provide demand-based forecasting and replenishment and assist us in optimizing our inventory. Retalix's Demand-Driven Replenishment solution was the ideal fit," said Bob Mawyer, VP of information technology at Weis Markets, Sunbury, Pa., which operates 164 stores.

It’s no secret: When the Great Recession hit in the fall of 2008, retailers sustained a serious blow in the form of sharply declining consumer demand. Privately held apparel retailer Bob’s Stores was no exception.


“For us, the slowdown had a significant impact on our inventory movement,” said Victor D’Amato, VP planning and analysis, Bob’s Stores, Meriden, Conn., which operates 34 stores in the Northeast.
