New York -- Footwear maker Crocs Inc., best known for its colorful plastic clogs, announced a major restructuring that includes closing stores and job cutbacks.

The plan comes on the heels of the company's disappointing second-quarter earnings results. Earlier this month, Crocs reported that second-quarter profit fell 44% to $19.7 million.

Italian luxury brand Fendi has opened a pop-up, called #fendisoho in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.

New York -- Italian luxury brand Fendi has opened a pop-up, called #fendisoho in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The 630-sq.-ft. store will be open until the end of the year.

The merchandise will rotate on a monthly basis, with different themes that reflect the breadth of the brand’s offerings. The first collection is devoted to accessories, or what Fendi calls “must-have mini-icons.”

Michael J. Kowalski, CEO of Tiffany and Co., will retire from the company effective March 31, 2015.

New York - Michael J. Kowalski, CEO of Tiffany and Co., will retire from the company effective March 31, 2015. Kowalski, who has been with Tiffany for 30 years and a member of the company’s board of directors since 1995, will continue to serve on the board in the role of non-executive chairman.

Tiffany has named Frederic Cumenal, currently the company’s president, to succeed Kowalski as CEO effective April 1, 2015. Kowalski, 62, joined Tiffany in 1983, became CEO in 1999 and assumed the role of chairman of the board in 2003.

New York -- American Apparel shareholders Bigger Capital Fund, Bachelier LLC and the Bigger Family, have sent a letter to the company's board seeking the resignation of co-chairmen David Danziger and Allan Mayer as board members.

The letter criticized the board’s "stealthily and abruptly ousting American Apparel's long-standing CEO and largest shareholder knowing that their actions will cause a near-imminent default under important contractual obligations of the company and cause it to default on nearly $10 million in loans."

Nordstrom announced today plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at The Shops at Knollwood in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Seattle -- Nordstrom announced today plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at The Shops at Knollwood in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The approximately 33,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2015. The property is owned and managed by Rouse Properties Inc.
 
Recently rebranded The Shops at Knollwood, Rouse Properties launched an extensive redevelopment project in an effort to modernize and improve the shopping environment.

Proceeds are expected to be used to pay off a remaining $131.5 million balance and outstanding borrowings of $60 million related to existing credit facilities, and to pay related fees and expenses associated with the transaction.

The new line includes footwear, loungewear, accessories and handbags and will be available in the United States, Japan and China.

New York -- The battle for control over American Apparel Inc. shifted into high gear with the company adopting a one-year stockholder rights plan, or so-called poison pill, aimed at stopping founder and ousted chairman and CEO Dov Charney from seizing control of the chain.

Charney is American Apparel’s largest shareholder, with a 27.2% stake in the company. On Wednesday, he signed a deal with Standard General whereby the New York firm would buy at least 10% of the company’s stock and then loan Charney the funds to acquire the stake.

Pittsburgh - American Eagle Outfitters Inc. is entering the U.K. with the opening of three new company-owned stores. The stores will be located in the Bluewater mall in Kent, England, as well as the Westfield Group’s London and Stratford City shopping centers in London, England.

The stores opening in the Westfield centers will include an aerie presence in shop-in-shop form. All of the stores are expected to open during fall 2014.

In this new role, Posen will direct the current Brooks Brothers design and merchant teams and will be responsible for the women's collection and affect a variety of areas including brand development and presentation for the women's label.

Posen's first women's collection for Brooks Brothers will debut in spring 2016 and will be available worldwide. Posen launched his eponymous collection in 2001.

Los Angeles -- Apparel retailer American Apparel Inc. has fired its controversial founder Dov Charney as chairman, effective immediately, and has moved to fire him as CEO and president. The actions come on the heels of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct by Charney, who has been targeted in sexual harassment lawsuits and charged with allegations of misconduct for years.

"Charney will be terminated for cause after a contractual 30-day cure period,” the Los Angeles-based company said in a statement.

Dallas — Neiman Marcus saw adjusted profits slip in the third quarter, even as revenues and comps rose.

For the quarter ended May 3, the company reported a net loss of $2.7 million, compared with net income of $70.8 million in the year-ago period.  On an adjusted basis, however, the company reported earnings of $45.1 million compared with $78.7 million last year.

Also in the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $1.16 billion, up from $1.10 billion in the year-ago period. Same-store sales rose 5.9%.
