Fast food hamburger chain Smashburger plans to more than double its nationwide store count to about 500 in the next few years. The chain currently runs about 200 locations across the US.

Denver -- Fast food hamburger chain Smashburger plans to more than double its nationwide store count to about 500 in the next few years. The chain currently runs about 200 locations across the U.S.

According to public comments from Smashburger chariman and CEO Dave Prokupek, the chain may also launch a U.S. IPO at some point in the future. “The idea of good food fast isn’t going to go away anytime soon,” said Prokupek.

Pizza chain Domino’s, Inc. reported a 6.2% increase in domestic store sales during first quarter 2013, compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Pizza chain Domino’s, Inc. reported a 6.2% increase in domestic store sales during first quarter 2013, compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

Domino’s also reported 6.5% international same store sales growth and added a net 75 global stores. Net income increased from $20.7 million to $34.4 million, an almost 66% jump.

As of March 2013, Domino’s operates 10,330 global stores, including 4,923 domestic locations.

Dallas -- Cypress Equities said Wednesday that Sleep Experts has signed a lease to occupy the remaining portion of the company’s development that currently houses Freebirds World Burrito at the northeast corner of West Seventh Street and Foch Street in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 3,035-sq.-ft. store is expected to open in May and marks the third in Fort Worth.

Domino's Pizza will contribute to the Partnership's savings of 1.5 billion gallons of fuel, $3.6 billion in fuel costs, 14.7 MMT of carbon dioxide, 215,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen and 8,000 tons of particulate matter.

Domino's Pizza is launching its brand new Android smartphone ordering app.

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Domino's Pizza is launching its brand new Android smartphone ordering app. With the launch, and in addition to its existing iPhone app which debuted last June, Domino's will now offer its mobile ordering app to more than 80% of smartphones.

The new app, which is compatible with Android version 2.1 and higher, extends many of the features of Domino's online ordering platform including: coupon search, full national menu, GPS store locator and the ability to follow orders with Domino's Tracker.

Dublin, Ohio -- Wendy's/Arby's Group said Thursday it plans to sell off its struggling Arby's quick-serve chain to focus on the Wendy's hamburger business.

The two fast-food chains were combined when Triarc Cos., Arby's parent, bought Wendy's for $2.2 billion in 2008 to create the third-largest publicly held fast-food chain.

Arby's generated about 30% of the company's sales in its third quarter.

At least one analyst feels the sale could bring in $400 million to $600 million.

Oak Brook, Ill. -- McDonald's Corp. said Wednesday it plans to double the number of its restaurants in China to 2,000 units by 2013.

According to a report by Reuters, the move is part of the hamburger chain’s strategy to speed up expansion in the fastest-growing major economy.

McDonald’s opened its first outlet in Shenzhen 20 years ago, and is now facing fierce competition from Pizza Hut and KFC parent Yum Brands, which has about 3,700 outlets in China.
