St. Louis — The Cordish Cos. and the St. Louis Cardinals celebrated the grand opening of the $100 million first phase of Ballpark Village on March 27.

The construction of Ballpark Village represents the next step in the Cardinals’ vision for downtown St. Louis that began with the opening of the $411 million privately financed Busch Stadium in April 2006.

Los Angeles-based Sundance Cinemas, Baltimore-based The Cordish Cos. and the City of Houston announced that a lease has been signed for the former Angelika center space at Bayou Place in the theatre district of Downtown Houston.

Sundance said it expects the extensive refurbishment work to begin immediately on the eight-screen complex with the target of a Nov. 1 opening.

As part of the multi-million dollar renovation and expansion of Power Plant Live! in Baltimore, The Cordish Cos. announced that entertainment concepts PBR Baltimore and The Baltimore Comedy Factory hosted grand openings the first two weekends in March.

These latest downtown destinations join the recently opened Tatu Asian Grill in the restaurant, entertainment and office district that is now going on its 12th year of operations.
