Shake Shack has implemented the NCR Pulse Real-Time smartphone application.

Duluth, Ga. – Shake Shack has implemented the NCR Pulse Real-Time smartphone application. The app provides real-time, segmented performance metrics and notifications to employee smartphones, generated by a SaaS-based mobile analytics engine and can be integrated with NCR POS platforms.

“NCR Pulse Real-Time is a great tool,” said Giancarlo Fiorarancio, director of information systems, Shake Shack. “It gives you information that you can use right now to improve your results for the rest of the day.”

It kind of reminds me of the second “Star Wars” trilogy that came out around the turn of the millennium – the back story of Darth Vader was rich with potential, but George Lucas polluted a great dramatic story arc with floppy-eared aliens and lame attempts at political commentary.

“What Women Want When Apparel Shopping,” which polled 1,000 women shoppers, also revealed that 53% of women have between one and five shopping apps on their smartphones. Yet, still, they opt for the store experience.

Consumer use of smartphones and tablets is helping to drive the growth of mobile transactions in retail. Chain Store Age spoke about the growing trend with Don Kingsborough, VP retail services, PayPal, which recorded $14 billion in mobile payments in 2012 and expects to exceed $20 billion this year. New York -- Brands and retailers have the most followed or “Liked” pages on social media, according to WSL/Strategic Retail. Nearly two-thirds (61%) of users who “Fan” social media pages, are choosing to follow brands and retailers -- beating out celebrities and TV shows which are followed by just over half of users.  

The finding was unveiled as part of the company’s Buzz to Buy 3.0 trend report, its third annual survey measuring how the power of Social Media and online information are impacting buying decisions.
