Cache reported a loss of $18.5 million for the first quarter, widened from a loss of $1.2 million in the same quarter last year.

New York -- Cache reported Tuesday a loss of $18.5 million for the first quarter, widened from a loss of $1.2 million in the same quarter last year. An income tax provision of $10.2 million and employee separation costs were cited as reasons for the worsened performance.

Revenue declined 5% to $53.5 million from $56 million, and same-store sales dipped 1.5%.

New York -- Cache said Monday that it has appointed Arnold Cohen as executive VP/chief marketing officer for the women’s apparel chain.

Cohen’s background includes eight years with American Eagle Outfitters, where he was involved in creating the first mobile concept, the early iteration of Martin and Osa, and the back-on-campus initiative that rolled out to 50 colleges.

Cache announced that Daphne Pappas has joined the company as EVP, chief merchandise officer.

New York -- Cache announced that Daphne Pappas has joined the company as EVP, chief merchandise officer. For the past 10 years, she served as VP general merchandising manager for Burberry America’s where she led the company’s women’s business.

Prior to Burberry, Pappas was the divisional merchandise manager of juniors sportswear at Macy’s East.

New York -- Cache announced that it has appointed Jay Margolis as chairman and CEO of Cache. Concurrent with the appointment, Thomas Reinckens will step down as chairman and CEO.
 
Margolis most recently served as president and CEO of Limited Brands’ Apparel Group (Express and Limited Stores), where he was responsible for revamping the product line and leading the successful operational turnaround of the businesses. Prior to Limited Brands, he was president, COO & director of Reebok International.
