New York -- Brixmor Property Group has appointed Michael V. Pappagallo as president and CFO, effective May 20.

Pappagallo will play an integral role in the execution of Brixmor's long-term business and capital markets strategy.  In addition, he will lead the company's finance and accounting teams, as well as have functional oversight of its property operations, information technology, acquisitions/dispositions and investor relations efforts.

Ft. Worth, Texas -- Westwood Contractors announced that effective May 1, Michael W. McBride has  assumed the role of president in addition to his position as COO at the firm.

“This promotion acknowledges Mike’s leadership role in the strategic direction of the company as it continues to grow,” said Robert D. Benda, CEO of Westwood.

Prior to joining Westwood in 1994, McBride held construction management positions at Payless Shoe Source and Zale Corporation.

HSN Inc. said that it has appointed CFO Judy Schmeling to the additional role of COO, effective immediately.

St. Petersburg. Fla. – HSN Inc. said Wednesday that it has appointed CFO Judy Schmeling to the additional role of COO, effective immediately. Schmeling has been serving as HSN's executive VP and CFO since 2001.

In her new role, Schmeling will be responsible for supply chain operations and customer care functions, in addition to providing ongoing leadership for finance and IT.

Woo will succeed Walter J. Parks, COO and CFO, who is departing the company effective May 3. The COO position will be eliminated and CEO Steve Birkhold will assume the COO responsibilities.

Aaron's said that David L. Buck has been named COO. Ken Butler, age 60, will be retiring as COO after a 39-year career at Aaron's effective May 1.

Atlanta -- Aaron's said that David L. Buck has been named COO. Ken Butler, age 60, will be retiring as COO after a 39-year career at Aaron's effective May 1. He will also resign from the Aaron's board of directors.
   
Buck, age 63, was promoted to senior VP, operations earlier this year. He has risen steadily through the Aaron's management development program during his 24 years with the company.

The Children's Place said that current CFO Michael Scarpa has also been appointed COO, effective immediately.

Secaucus, N.J. -- The Children's Place said Wednesday that current CFO Michael Scarpa has also been appointed COO, effective immediately.

Scarpa will continue to oversee finance, information technology, distribution, logistics and wholesale, and will add store operations, store development and international to his current responsibilities.

Prior to joining The Children's Place, Scarpa was COO and CFO of The Talbots.

The SEC leveed insider trading charges against Begelman for allegedly using confidential information for his own gain, concerning the upcoming acquisition of Bluegreen Corp. by BFC Financial Corp.

J.C. Penney announced that its COO Michael Kramer has resigned, along with chief talent officer Daniel Walker – bringing Penney’s April executive casualty number to five.

New York -- J.C. Penney announced Thursday that its COO Michael Kramer has resigned, along with chief talent officer Daniel Walker – bringing Penney’s April executive casualty number to five. Both resignations had been previously reported.

Kramer’s resignation was disclosed via a Securities and Exchange filing. He walked away with a $2+ million cash payment.

The two latest resignations follow CEO Ron Johnson’s departure last week, along with product development lead Nick Wooster and marketing VP Sissie Twiggs.

Three executives who had previously worked with Ron Johnson at Apple and then joined him at J.C. Penney have left the embattled department store chain in the wake of Johnson’s ouster, the New York Post reported.

According to the report, Mike Kramer, COO, Daniel Walker, chief talent officer, and Mike Fishe, chief creative officer, left Penney on Wednesday. The newspaper said Kramer resigned, but that it was not clear whether Walker and Fisher left voluntarily.

Kimmins most recently was EVP – finance and operations at LF-USA, a division of Li & Fung Limited, a multi-billion dollar wholesaler of apparel, footwear and fashion accessories. Prior to that, he was EVP of Toys “R” Us, where he was responsible for worldwide corporate finance, raising billions in debt and equity financing transactions.

Best Buy Co. named Ron Wilson as president and COO of its Canadian operations, effective immediately.

New York -- Best Buy Co. named Ron Wilson as president and COO of its Canadian operations, effective immediately. Wilson will lead the business in Canada under the Future Shop and Best Buy online brands.

As SVP merchandising and e-commerce since 2008 for Best Buy Canada, Wilson led the strategic visions of Bestbuy.ca and Futureshop.ca. Wilson previously managed several other units within Best Buy Canada, including merchandising, operations and marketing.

Washington -- President Obama has selected Sally Jewell, president and CEO of Recreational Equipment Inc., to lead the Interior Department, White House officials said Wednesday.

Jewell, a former banker and Mobile Oil Corp. executive, is an outdoors enthusiast and conservation advocate. She joined the board of REI in 1996, and was appointed COO in 2000. In 2005, she was named CEO. Under her leadership, REI increased sales from $1 billion to nearly $2 billion, added 71 stores, and greatly expanded its online business.

Foothills Ranch, Calif. -- The Wet Seal Inc. on Friday announced that its COO is resigning as the struggling retailer initiates a corporate workforce reduction as part of a broader cost-saving initiative. In other moves, it will shutter two poor-performing Arden B stores.

The struggling chain, which also authorized a $25 million stock buyback program, said president and COO Ken Seipel resigned effective immediately. His position will not be filled. Instead, Seipel's duties will be shared between CEO John Goodman and CFO Steve Benrubi.

Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s Cos. has named Stephen Szilagyi to the post of supply chain executive, reporting to Rick Damron, COO.

In his new role, Szilagyi will oversee Lowe’s logistics and distribution network that expedites the replenishment of merchandise and supplies to all Lowe’s stores.

Szilagyi has more than 25 years of supply chain experience, including leadership roles prior to Lowe’s in wholesale distribution and retail/consumer products supply chain consulting services.

Minneapolis -- Best Buy Co. announced Wednesday that its president of digital operations Stephen Gillett is leaving the company to take a COO post at computer security company Symantec, effective Friday.

Best Buy said that Gillett’s responsibilities will now be divided up among CFO Sharon McCollam, online and global e-commerce president Scott Durchslag, and senior VP U.S. retail Shawn Score.

Secaucus, N.J. -- The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. reported Monday that its CFO Steven Baginski has resigned the company, effective immediately.

According to the retailer, Baginski is leaving to pursue other interests.

Former COO and CFO of The Talbots Inc., Michael Scarpa, has been named Baginski’s successor, effective Dec. 3.  

Scarpa also worked at Liz Claiborne Inc. for 25 years.

McCann, who is the company’s current chief commercial and development officer, replaces Carl Schlicker, who is retiring.
