Lowe’s has released its 2013 Corporate Sustainability Report, which highlight its efforts to promote the well-being of its employees, its communities and the environment.

Mooresville, N.C. – Lowe’s has released its 2013 Corporate Sustainability Report, which highlight its efforts to promote the well-being of its employees, its communities and the environment. The report includes Lowe's first set of public sustainability goals, which establish new targets for energy use, carbon emissions and waste for the year 2020.

By 2020, Lowe’s aims to achieve the following milestones for energy use, carbon emissions and waste, measured against a 2010 baseline:

On April 24, 2013, 1,127 people were killed when Rana Plaza, a garment manufacturing complex in Savar, Bangladesh, collapsed. This tragedy highlights the working conditions that may exist in Bangladesh and other countries. It also draws attention to the challenges faced by U.S. companies that want to conduct their business in an ethical and socially responsible way, particularly when operating through third-party suppliers in foreign countries.

Kohl’s Department Stores released its 2012 corporate social responsibility report, providing updates on the company’s programs and accomplishments in sustainability, community relations and social compliance.

Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores released its 2012 corporate social responsibility report, providing updates on the company’s programs and accomplishments in sustainability, community relations and social compliance. The company noted that, as of the end of fiscal 2012, it has achieved 752 Energy Star-certified locations, adding 75 stores in 2012 with a goal to reach 800 certified locations by 2015.

Shopping center operator Kimco Realty Corp. has received a subpoena in an investigation over possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by Wal-Mart Stores, Reuters reported.

New York -- Shopping center operator Kimco Realty Corp. has received a subpoena in an investigation over possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by Wal-Mart Stores, Reuters reported.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Kimco said it had received the subpoena on Jan. 28 from the SEC’s Enforcement Division. Kimco said it would fully cooperate with the SEC, and that the Department of Justice was conducting a "parallel investigation" with the SEC, according to the report.
