Following recent news that Bon-Ton Stores president and CEO Bud Bergren would be stepping down and succeed by former Lord & Taylor CEO Brendan Hoffman, the retailer said Tuesday that, effective Feb. 7, Bergen will become chairman of the board.

Hoffman will become a director of the company. Former executive chairman, who recently resigned that title, will remain on the board as strategic initiatives officer.

The Bon-Ton Stores said it has appointed Brendan L. Hoffman as president and CEO, effective Feb. 7.

York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores said Tuesday it has appointed Brendan L. Hoffman as president and CEO, effective Feb. 7.

Hoffman replaces Bud Bergren, who is a current member of the board of directors and who will transition to the role of the chairman.

Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said that its CEO Bud Bergren will retire his position once the company finds and hires his successor.

Milwaukee -- Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said Monday that its CEO Bud Bergren will retire his position once the company finds and hires his successor.

When a new CEO is in place, Bergren will transition to chairman; current executive chairman Tim Grumbacher will vacate the chair but remain a director. Bergren has been CEO since 2004.

The succession plans comes on the heels of same-store sales dips in October and a downwardly modified outlook for the year.

The Bon-Ton Stores said Monday that it has extended president and CEO Bud Bergren's contract through Feb. 5, 2012, and has promoted Barbara Schrantz to COO.

York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores said Monday that it has extended president and CEO Bud Bergren's contract through Feb. 5, 2012, and has promoted Barbara Schrantz to COO.

Under the newly announced agreement, Bergren's contract will automatically renew annually, unless the board chooses otherwise. Schrantz will assume the role of COO on Jan. 30. She is currently executive VP sales promotion and marketing.
