Mid-America Asset Management said it has signed three furniture/home décor stores to retail locations in Chicago’s suburbs of Oak Brook and McHenry as well as downstate in Bloomington, Ill.

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. -- Mid-America Asset Management said it has signed three furniture/home décor stores to retail locations in Chicago’s suburbs of Oak Brook and McHenry as well as downstate in Bloomington, Ill.

Ashley Furniture signed a lease for 31,573 sq. ft. at Colonial Plaza in Bloomington, Ill., with plans to open in spring 2013. Ashley Furniture will co-anchor the 236,460-sq.-ft. center along with Kmart and OfficeMax.

Pine Tree Commercial Realty said its affiliate has acquired a Rainbow Foods grocery store in Bloomington, Minn.

Northbrook, Ill. -- Pine Tree Commercial Realty said its affiliate has acquired a Rainbow Foods grocery store in Bloomington, Minn.

The purchase expands the real estate development firm’s portfolio of shopping centers to include freestanding grocery stores.

The 64,130-sq.-ft. building is fully leased to Rainbow Foods, and features nearby retailers Target and Walgreens.

Bethlehem, Pa. -- Peeps & Co., the retail division of candy-manufacturer Just Born, whose brands include Peeps and Mike and Ike, has opened a store at Mall of America, Bloomington, Minnesota.

The new Peeps & Co. is designed to offer a fun, energy-filled retail experience that features customized music, lights, interactive displays, as well as current and historic video about the company’s candy brands. The merchandise includes a mix of branded apparel, accessories and gifts.

Triple Five on Monday gave more information on its plans to transform the controversial and long-delayed Xanadu project in New Jersey’s Meadowlands Sports Complex, in East Rutherford, into what it promises will be “the world's largest and premier tourism, entertainment and retail destination, eventually reaching 7.5 million sq. ft.”
