Petco to open at Hamilton Plaza

North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. said that Petco will open a store at Hamilton Plaza, located in Hamilton Township, N.J.

Hamilton Township, N.J. -- North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. said that Petco will open a store at Hamilton Plaza, located in Hamilton Township, N.J.

The pet supply retailer leased 13,640 sq. ft. at the 175,515-sq.-ft. center which is anchored by ShopRite and A.C. Moore. Other tenants include Sleepy’s, Dollar Tree, Hallmark, New Wave Wireless, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Texas Roadhouse.

Gigante and Petco in deal to open stores in Mexico and Latin America

Mexican supermarket and restaurant operator Gigante has entered into a joint venture with Petco Animal Supplies to open at least 50 stores in Mexico and other Latin American countries over seven years, Reuters reported.

New York -- Mexican supermarket and restaurant operator Gigante has entered into a joint venture with Petco Animal Supplies to open at least 50 stores in Mexico and other Latin American countries over seven years, Reuters reported.

The first two Petco stores will open this year in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Gigante said in a release to the stock exchange.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Passionate Pets names former Petco exec to board

Pet retailer Passionate Pets said Thursday it has named Keith Martin, former senior VP operations at Petco, to its board of directors.

Irvine, Calif. -- Pet retailer Passionate Pets said Thursday it has named Keith Martin, former senior VP operations at Petco, to its board of directors.

The company also named Todd Peterson, CPA at KSNE2 Enterprises, to the board.

The company is preparing for an IPO and, according to its president and CEO John Dunn, who worked with Martin at both Petco and Office Depot, the pair is expected to help lead Passionate Pet through the IPO stage.

Specializing as a smaller neighborhood Petco store with pet supplies, products and pet food, Unleashed by Petco has leased 4,467 sq. ft. of space. The business is slated to open in fall 2011, bringing the center to 97% leased.

Report: Petco acquires Complete Petmart chain

A report Wednesday by the Business Courier said that Petco has purchased a 29-store Complete Petmart chain, based in Dayton, Ohio.

Dayton, Ohio -- A report Wednesday by the Business Courier said that Petco has purchased a 29-store Complete Petmart chain, based in Dayton, Ohio.

Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed. San Diego, Calif.-based Petco said all of the chain's 230 employees will become employees of privately held Petco Animal Supplies.

Petco said it will be making changes to the former Complete Petmart store layouts over the next few weeks.

HomeGoods, Petco to open at Granada Hills

HomeGoods has leased 27,500 sq. ft. and is slated to open in spring 2012. This is the first store in the market for this home furnishings retailer with the next closest location eight miles away.

Petco is scheduled to open in 11,350 sq. ft. this fall.
