Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America launched a national campaign on Monday calling on Kroger Co. to prohibit the open carry of guns in its supermarkets.

Indianapolis -- Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America launched a national campaign on Monday calling on Kroger Co. to prohibit the open carry of guns in its supermarkets. The gun control advocacy group was founded in response to the Sandy Hook school shooting and has partnered with billionaires Michael Bloomberg and Warren Buffett.

The Moms Demand Action campaign, which includes a petition to Kroger, follows similar actions aimed at Target, Chipotle, Sonic, Chii’s and Jack in the Box.

Massage Envy, Accelerated Rehabilitation, and Native Foods signed leases at River Forest Town Center. Massage Envy signed on for 3,946 sq. ft. and Accelerated Rehabilitation signed for 3,077 sq. ft. Both tenants are taking half of the former Talbot’s space.

Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of Wanamaker Shopping Center in Topeka, Kansas.

Topeka, Kan. -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of Wanamaker Shopping Center in Topeka, Kansas.  The regional shopping center was purchased for $18 million by Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Equity Investment Group.

The 269,875-sq.-ft. center is anchored by Big Kmart, Hobby Lobby, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Birmingham, Mich. -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team, in cooperation with NAI Farbman, recently brokered the sale of The Willits Retail in Birmingham, Michigan. The 25,396-sq.-ft. asset was purchased by Southfield, Michigan-based Seligman Group.

The Willits Retail is located at the southeast corner of Willits Street and Bates Street in the Detroit suburb of Birmingham. Willits features Mitchell’s Fish Market and Cameron’s Steakhouse, together with TD Ameritrade and Darakjian Jewelers.

Flexeon Rehabilitation signed a lease for 2,923 sq. ft. at Hillcrest Shopping Center in Crest Hill, Illinois. The 240,268-sq.-ft. center is anchored by TJ Maxx, Food 4 Less, Citi Trends, and Harbor Freight Tools.

On the heels of disappointing results for the first quarter of fiscal 2014, American Eagle Outfitters Inc. has decided to close 150 stores in America, including 100 namesake stores.

Pittsburgh - On the heels of disappointing results for the first quarter of fiscal 2014, American Eagle Outfitters Inc. has decided to close 150 stores in America, including 100 namesake stores. For 2014, the company is planning to close approximately 50 American Eagle and 20 aerie stores in North America.

Beginning in 2015, the company anticipates annualized after-tax savings of approximately $10 million-$15 million related to these store closures.

Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company is expanding its presence in Latin America, with plans to open locations in Colombia, Bolivia and Panama.

Starbucks said it is on track to open its first store in Colombia, in the city of Bogota, in mid-summer 2014 through a joint venture between two of its longest-term business partners in the Latin America region – Alsea and Grupo Nutresa. During the next five years, the joint venture plans to expand aggressively in Bogota and to other major cities in Colombia.

The joint venture owns the portfolio, with 20% owned by RPAI and 80% owned by RPAI’s partner. RPAI will acquire its partner’s 80% interest in the six properties.
