Dallas - 7-Eleven is celebrating its 87th birthday with eight days of free offers, beginning July 11. To receive each day's free offer, a customer must first download and register on the 7-Eleven app.

A customer opens the 7-Eleven app at the store and shows the member barcode to the sales associate at checkout. The barcode appears below the coupons. Once the associate scans the barcode at the register, the customer will receive the item as they check out.

A Sunday report by Bloomberg said that 7-Eleven parent Seven & I Holdings Co. is planning more acquisitions here and may more than double the number of c-store stores it operates in North America.

Tokyo -- A Sunday report by Bloomberg said that 7-Eleven parent Seven & I Holdings Co. is planning more acquisitions here and may more than double the number of c-store stores it operates in North America.

The company “could increase our store number to 20,000 or even 30,000 [in North America],” chairman Toshifumi Suzuki told Bloomberg in an interview.  7-Eleven currently has more than 8,000 convenience stores in North America.

No time-frame for the planned expansion has been defined.

7-Eleven announced it has closed on the acquisition of 46 Hickory Point and Palms Stores from CB Mart.

Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced Monday it has closed on the acquisition of 46 Hickory Point and Palms Stores from CB Mart.

While the terms of this particular deal haven’t been made public, the acquisition boosts 7-Eleven’s Carolinas store count to more than 100 and puts the c-store operator solidly on track to continue its accelerated growth plan. 7-Eleven earlier acquired 55 Sam’s Mart and 13 Fast Track stores in the two-state area.

The effective date of the leases will vary, but all leases are expected to be in place by March 31, 2013.

The c-store chain added nearly 5,000 stores globally in 2012; 1,000 were in the U.S. and Canada. At year’s end, 7-Eleven operated 49,500 stores in 16 countries.

7-Eleven announced that it has acquired 143 Speedy Stop and Tigermarket retail locations from C. L. Thomas, of Victoria, Texas.

Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced Thursday that it has acquired 143 Speedy Stop and Tigermarket retail locations from C. L. Thomas, of Victoria, Texas.

The acquisition, which closed Dec. 31, increases 7-Eleven stores' footprint in San Antonio, where recently the country's largest convenience retailer purchased 25 stores as part of its acquisition from TETCO. It also adds to 7-Eleven's growing fuel wholesale-delivery business because the acquisition includes gasoline distribution to approximately 150 dealer-operated sites.

7-Eleven announced that it has acquired the retail and wholesale dealer assets of San Antonio-based Tetco, closing a deal that was announced Aug. 14.

The assets include 163 company-operated convenience stores in Utah and the Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio areas of Texas.

The acquisition signals a return to San Antonio for 7-Eleven, where the company had operated stores until 1989.

The company has closed deals with EZ Energy USA Inc. to purchase 67 retail locations in the Cleveland and Pittsburgh markets, and with its licensee, Handee Marts Inc., to acquire 58 7-Eleven convenience stores in those same markets as well as locations in northern West Virginia and western Maryland.

Fort Worth, Texas -- RadioShack Corp. said Thursday it has made an agreement with Malaysian retail group Berjaya Retail Berhad that will expand RadioShack's global footprint across 10 Southeast Asian countries.

Under the long-term agreement, Berjaya Retail (Cayman) Limited as franchise developer is expected to open at least 1,000 franchise locations across the Association of Southeast Asia Nations within the first 10 years. Its subsidiary in Malaysia, Berjaya RS Sdn. Bhd., expects to open its first RadioShack locations later this year in Kuala Lumpur.

A report in Crain’s New York Business said that Dallas-based 7-Eleven, which currently has 12 c-stores in Manhattan, plans to open another 14 in 2012.

New York City -- A Friday report in Crain’s New York Business said that Dallas-based 7-Eleven, which currently has 12 c-stores in Manhattan, plans to open another 14 in 2012.

Parent company Seven & I Holdings Co. said some of the 14 spaces were leased last year, but others have not been sited yet. Neighborhoods to be developed include Midtown, Greenwich Village, Chelsea and the Upper East Side. The Financial District is also on the boards, according to the report, which said that another 20 locations are planned between 2013 and 2017.

Toronto -- A Tuesday report by the Financial Times said that c-store operator 7-Eleven will open as many as 200 new corporate stores in Ontario, between 2012 and 2016, with a major focus on the Greater Toronto area.

The announcement is slated to take place at this week’s International Council of Shopper Centers’ conference in Toronto.

The planned expansion is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and would boost the operator’s Canadian store count by nearly 50%. 7-Eleven currently operates 467 locations in Canada.

Dallas -- 7-Eleven is acquiring the retail interests of 28 locations owned by Pacific Convenience & Fuels LLC.

The acquisition includes sites in California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, and is slated to close in fourth quarter 2011. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

All of the locations will be rebranded as 7-Eleven and will retain the Conoco-Phillips/76 gasoline brands.
