RANDOM NOTES: Dockers San Francisco has opened its first stand-alone U.S. locations, in Tampa, Fla., and San Francisco (three additional units are set to open this fall). Every element of the design is intended to reflect the brand’s San Francisco-inspired style and eco-friendly sensibility. The interiors evoke a residential feeling, with warm lighting and photography of San Francisco. Designed by Gensler, San Francisco, the stores incorporate sustainable natural materials, such as reclaimed teak from demolished buildings and redwood reclaimed from wine-storage tanks. All of the furniture, paint and adhesives were selected with a goal of improving indoor air quality. Many of the materials used in the stores’ design and construction are GREEN-GUARD-certified for their low chemical emissions. For more Dockers photos, visit Picture This on chainstoreage.com.… Meijer is seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for its store in Allen Park, Mich. Built on a former landfill, the facility features a light-colored, highly reflective roof surface, wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, high-efficiency light fixtures, advanced HVAC systems and sinks and toilets designed for water efficiency. A large storm pond around the store allows storm water from the roof and parking areas to be absorbed into the soil, filtering pollution. Meijer plans to incorporate many of the green practices used in Allen Park to the new locations—12 in total—it plans to open in 2007 and 2008.… Chase has opened its first “green” bank branch, in Denver. Constructed under LEED guidelines, it will be followed by four similar units, one in Colorado and three in Texas. Among the green building practices are paints with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), specially sealed ductwork, state-of-the-art plumbing, recycled-material carpet and ceiling tiles and bamboo flooring.

PERSONNEL UPDATES: Teresa Burrelsman has joined Callison, Seattle, as its sustainability program leader. She previously was a senior green building consultant at Paladino & Co.
